I have 1990 toy truck with a burnt up 3.0 and am getting a rolled over truck with a rebuilt 22ret in it that run's strong. was wandering how hard it would be to drop the 22ret into this truck(3.0)? any help would greatly be appreciated..

 

come on guys need some help here. I did all the searches and haven't found a post that has gone from start to finish..

 

The mounts would have to be changed, the bellhousing would have to be changed, the whole wiring harness would have to be changed and all other parts as well like the radiator, hoses and wiring. If you got the time and patience, do it. I would recommend you go back to your 4.3. The swap would be easier than putting a 22RTE in it.

I already have a 1979 toy with a 4.3 in it and i love the power. just thought this would be easier beings that i planed on using the whole motor tranny and transfer case from the rolled truck. just wandering how dificult the wiring was for the under dash stuff?

 

You would have to do more wiring for the Toyota engine than you would have with the 4.3. Remember, your taking an 87 wiring harness and putting it in 1990 truck. I do not see why you would want a 22RET when you can put a Toyota 3.4 V6 or a Chevy V6 that would produce more horsepower and torque.

I understand that there will be alot of wiring to hook-up the underdash stuff but the 90 truck is a burn victum, meaning the fire was stopped at the firewall
and the only wiring left is underdash so, i figured that a toyota to toyota would be easier to rewire that the chevy. and as far as the 3.4 they are not as available up here in michigan.

 

A really good reason to go with the simplest swap - the 4.3 with a stand alone system like Megasquirt
