3vz to 22r swap

i have an 89 4x4 with a carbed 22r in it. i recently came upon a clean and straight 91 extended cab with a blown v6. can anyone tell me how difficult and what all i will need to put the 4 cyl out of my 89 in the 91? i know everyone thinks i should rebuild the v6 but i really want to keep the 4 cyl. its a sentimental thing. any help would be greatly appreciated. im deployed to afghanistan with the army right now and want to do this when i get home in about a month.

rebuild the 22r you can get more power and better fuel mileage out of it at just about the same h.p. As the 3.0 v6 the 3.0 is not worth the money to power ratio i have both and my 22re is way better gas mileage wise and power to dollar wise then the v6.

Lets see the 22re has 112 hp and the 3vze has 150 hp. The 22re has 140 ft-lb torque and the 3vze has 180 ft-lb torque. Cant see how the 22re has more power. My 3vze gets 14.6 mpg combined city/freeway driving and 17 Freeway. Not bad for a 16 year old 4WD with auto and 294K miles. Yes the 3.4 has more power and torque. But its easier to freshen up the 3.0 than to swap the newer engine in. If you are going to do a swap go whole hog and put a V8 in.

well if you can weld/fabricate...shouldnt be a big issue but being a v6 truck ur gonna have to weld in different motor mounts...unless they make conversion mounts that im unaware of...but im 98% sure you cant just swap it in there...

said he wants to keep the 4cyl for sentimental purpouses...a 22r is WAY less complicated to rebuild and make more power than a 3vze

the 22r is definately a keeper, im just curious as to how difficult and what all it entales to swap from the 3vz to the 22r. ill have both trucks for donars and ive gathered that ill have to move the motor mounts, but what else will i have to do. ie transmission, wiring harness, that sort of stuff. im not gonna buy the other truck unless i know i can do it. thanks for the replies
