Did you get the cruse control to work or even try?
I did not try and again looking back , it really shouldnt be that hard , i wish i would have left it and installed it.If you are doing the wiring yourself you will see what i mean .

If I was to get a 1uz from a wrecker would getting the complete engine/tranny and acc + harness and ECU work?
Thats it, plus some manifolds , i used some stock 2003 tundra manifolds , they were the easiest to make work. If you have a solid axle the sc manifolds will work as is.

My truck now is 5spd do you think to simplify and save cost should I just convert to auto at the same time?
To be honest i dont know , but the auto was just the easiest for me to do .Probably be cheaper for you to keep your tranny as is , instead of buying a new one.

Really enjoyed reading this swap, would love to do it on mine too.

Jeremy
Thanks man , and good luck !!!!!!

Did you get the cooling fan working right? I just hooked mine up this weekend finally. The relay wiring was tricky but I finally got a diagram from a friend that made it super easy. I didn't ever need it with my 4cyl and I actually had my fan wired to a switch that I only needed to use when offroading. As long as you have a decent radiator and good air flow it's not that big of a deal on the street.

smithers yea i am having no problems cooling this motor , and yea i did get it hooked up right , i had it wired to constant power instead or switched .

Im using
summit alu Radiator #Sum-380325
summit Adj temp probe #Der-16749
summit x2 - 10" fans 2350 cfms each #Prm-19120

so far this setup is working great on and off road , my 1uz's original fan was not the troublesome hydraulic type it was the more simple clutch type fan so i was able to just remove the clutch fan .

I think I saw your motor came with the hydraulic type and you switched the fan bracket assembly to the clutch style.

Good work. Yeah my 1UZ came with the fancy hydraulic thingy but that is easily swapped out for a pulley from a Tunda engine / 2UZ-FE. Now my Adaptronic ECU gives a negative signal to the relay I had to wire to convert that into a 12V output for the electric fan. Fun times! I'm building a longer and quiet exhaust this afternoon so I don't choke out in the cab while driving around.

That adaptronic sounds a little complicated.

hey believe it or not I just picked up another ls 400 for $125 this weekend .

I have 2 friends that want this swap done , now they are fighting for this car.

I think their going to have to flip a coin to see who gets theirs done first.

88 4runner or the 65 landcruiser.

I already started to list some items from the car on craigslist.

The guy I bought it from wrecked the car , and then started to part it out but his wife wanted it out from the drive way so he had to get rid of it like Now ..

The engine starts and is completely untouched the tranny is there and all the wiring and ecu is there. 153,000 miles

No traction control (right throttle body)
clutch style fan (non hydraulic)

Cheapest 1uz I've found, they even have a super charger they'll throw in for 100$ more!

If I wasn't buy my my girlfriend round trip tickets to visit her sisters wedding in tx, I'd be buying this today. One day I will do this swap to my 96', it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

Man, 450$ for 1uz and SC, I'm pissed. It's only a 30min drive away too....

I love your work and that dash is bad ass, that's very clean, and a very good job! You should have told your exhaust shop to throw flowmasters on that toy!

Yeah man. Just save up some cash on the side and be ready to snatch up a deal. These engines and cars just come up super cheap. I want one to drive everyday! So cheap. Yeah you have to put premium in them but they have power and I've seen people get 25mpg in them consistently. I have a feeling a lot of people will be doing this swap now. Anyone that gets a ride with me is scared just getting in the cab now. LOL!

I do have a 1" body lift , but I think you can get away with no body lift .It will be tight but i thinks its possible.

right now theres about 1/2 inch from the top of the intake to the bottom of the hood , then there is about 1 " from the pan to the center link .

I had installed the lift when i did the bj spacers and 33" tires .

Just for everyone's info putting premium in the 1UZ is very much mandatory to get good fuel economy not just for more power. They run like absolute crap when you put lesser fuel in them. We have bad enough fuel as is. I've talked to many people and the ONLY owners that never put 91+ in them are senior citizens. They don't complain because they rarely drive and they go super slow. Anyone else always tells me how bad they run and the fuel mileage drops. Ok carry on...

yea man ive been using just regular 87 from shell and thought I was getting good mileage .I am going to run a couple tanks of their premium and see how much better it is .

So I had been hearing a loud tick on the drivers side head , figured it was a valve out of adjustment .
Well I finally dove in and checked the valves , all of them on the passenger side were within spec and all but one were ok on the drivers side.

The one that is out of spec is an intake one and its the hardest one to get to , (closest to the firewall) theres no room on the cam to use the special tool . so i had to loosen the cam bolts a little to get to the shim.It measured .40 mm and the specs show 0.15 – 0.25.

T .......... Thickness of used shim

A .......... Measured valve clearance

N .......... Thickness of new shim
using the formula Intake
N = T + (A–0.20 mm (0.008 in.))

mine was
3.10 = 2.90 + (.40-.20)

So I have a bunch of extra shims and none of them would work , I had to order one . Part # 13753 – 50510 3.10 mm.

I also installed a new steering box (mine was leaking) and the power steering vaccum valve.

any way I used these 2 sites for help.

Thank you sir!

Ok well I was using cheap electronic calipers and my measurment of the old shim was wrong. so the new one I installed was not the right one , (now measureing .12 ) so I went and bought some better calipers and now ordered another shim , should be in tomorrow . O well what can I do ...
