p0141 code... wrong rear sensor?

Hi all,

Finally at the point of trying to get my 93 4Runner with a 2001 4runner 3.4L and a 2000 4Runner 4x4, manual, 49 state ECU registered. After installing BJ spacers up front, cruiser coils in the rear, and a front end alignment I've been able to put the motor through some paces.

One code I'm getting is P0141 rear heated o2 sensor. For the swap, I have 100% new exhaust including O2 sensors. Here are the Denso sensor part #'s I bought and installed:

Front: 234-4161
Rear: 234-4162

Now going back to URD's site I see that this is the correct rear sensor for a 2000 49 state, 2wd/4wd, auto as opposed to a manual. The manual sensor with the same combo is 234-4154.

Just curious if anyone knows the difference in the 4162 and the 4154. I was assuming/hoping it was only connector pigtail length, but no longer sure on that. It was also in the 20's temp wise tonight when I was driving around so I'm not sure how the cold temps may or may not effect the rear sensor signal.

Thanks for any thoughts!

The two different aftermarket part #'s cross reference with the OEM part #'s. Having said that the 2000 manual ECU is looking for an O2 sensor with different parameters then what the 2001 auto ECU is looking for, thus the different part #'s. Because I have a 2000 Taco 3.4 in my truck, my first thought was the front sensor, which is not an O2 sensor at all, but an air fuel sensor, however your code is the #2 sensor heater circuit, so my obvious question is did you verify that the ECU pin configuration on both ECU's is the same? Or if you had to do some rewiring is it possible you might have crossed the heater circuit?

Thanks for your response. What the problem actually was, sad to say, was that after going back and checking the pinouts at the ECU harnesses two of the wires had been cut off. I had originally looked at the harnesses but failed to pull the tape back. I went back through all my wire conversion paperwork and had no notes of cutting those wires so I don't know how I made that mistake. After soldering those 2 wires back together, magically the problem was fixed
