Which oil pressure switch?

I'm seeing some conflicting information on this. For the pre-93 (ish?) trucks with different connectors on the sender than the 3.4, are most people buying the Tundra switch as has been recommended, or reusing their older 3.0 sender and connector and cutting/splicing the wire to the 3.4 harness? I have the 3.0 sender and was planning to cut and splice but see some knowledgeable posters saying they didn't get theirs to work doing that. Don't want to ruin my gauge - can't do that if it's the 3.0 sender from original truck, right?

Diagram for my 1990 is showing only a gauge, no light option.

Seems reasonable to use the guage/light and sender/sensor as a set from the same year. If it's a dummy light style you would only be concerned about making sure the 3.0 vs 3.4 have the same pressure specs, however if it's a guage the resistive sensor needs to have the same range the dash guage expects.
