3.0 Starter in 3.4?

Yes, you can use either the 3.0 or 3.4 starters of these swaps. You have to drill the threads out on one or the other - I don't remember which it is, but it will work.

Use the 3.0 starter since you are using the 3.0 tranny. 3.4 flywheel will work just fine. If you want to use the 3.4 then you have to drill the bottom bolt hole out on the starter.

Update
So I went with the 3.0 starter in my 3.4 5spd with 3.4 flywheel and have no issues to report. No grinding, odd sounds problems engaging.
No Mods or drilling necessary.
Looks like it works with no issues.
Straight install

Pics for searchers: this is an aftermarket TYC out of a '97 3.4
This is a Denso out of a '90 3.0
I didn't get the camera dead in line with the gear end for the Denso either, rushing as I didn't want to burn out the coil, so the difference in throwout is actually a little less than it appears even, possibly the same, certainly within 1/16, at least between these years and brands.
