A few pics from last night. I have a meeting at work today, but once I get home... vroom vroom.

Needs to be washed... badly. This is 3.5 years of dust, pollen, and whatever else decided to coat the entire thing.

You know what really helps the engine start? The starter solenoid wire.

This thing, that I neglected to install...

And the obligatory empty garage shot:

After that snafu, it fired right up. The first time, it started smoking. I spilled a bit of oil previously. The second time the power steering pump started squealing for more of that delicious fluid. So now I wait for it to charge up some.

I'm pumped that I might be able to drive this up to my parent's house for thanksgiving.

Drove around the block after getting a new battery.

The butt dyno is happy.

It made some weird noises on startup, but after it got warm, the idle smoothed out to near perfect. There's a ticking from one of the vacuum valves that I'll have to sort out.

And no leaks after coming home from break with the family.

I finally got around to hooking up the OBD stuff, and it all looks good. The speedometer seems to have a wiring issue, but that's minor.

The short high-pressure fuel line had a leak, so now I'm looking for alternatives. I threw a fuel-line o-ring in there for now, but I want something permanent.

And I have the evap-valve-ticking once warm. I've read that it's normal, or that the valves need to be swapped. I'll look at that later this week.

Congratulations man!
Id use JIC or AN fittings for the fuel line. Roll your own.

Thanks! Feels nice to ride around in it again.

From just driving around the neighborhood, first gear is waaaay tooo looow. There's enough power to easily start off in second, so I may just do that for the time being. Also, the short-throw shifter is nice and smooth, but the positions are very close. In the future I may trade one of my R151's for an R150.

Anyway, here are a few pics from Torque. These were taken while idling at-temp.

Finally! I've got a bathroom remodel that I'm trying to beat your time to completion on.

You're below sea level?

I'm about six feet above, but GPS accuracy inside a metal frame isn't the best.

I found that my VSV for the pressure sensor is clicking like it should. I think I'll pop the old one back in and isolate it from the body to see if that quiet it down.

Two of the wire colors are slightly off, but it looks like everything is hooked up correctly.

Great looking truck.
My little bro traded his Ensignmobile in for one new (87 model IIRC). Regrets selling it even to this day.
I'll send him a link!!

Sweet. Very clean. I'm always jealous of clean ST205 bodies, but I love my convertible.
But I've already decided: If I go full-out on my Celica, it'll be either RWD with a solid rear axle, or 4WD a-la trar/rally style. Roll-cage and all. In the meantime, I just want to keep this one super reliable, as it's my DD. I might do a few visual things, like de-badge or remove the spoiler, but it's good for now.

As for my truck and the swap: I drove it Friday to work. It pulls. It doesn't really matter what gear I'm in. Too low? Okay, more revs and I'm good. Too high? Plenty of power to spare. I'm excited to get this fully-finished.

That is sick I wonder how much fun one of those would be in say a 1983 be a little scary I think mine has 140hp 22r in it and it gets down the road but a 3.4l with fuel injection oh baby maybe one day for my black beauty but not today especially considering I just finished dropping that motor in and spent the last week of any spare time to get her to purr. Nice truck and congrats

Wow, two years since I finished this...

"finished"

I want AC, and think I have it figured out: Compressor from a 3.4, top compressor plate from a 3.0, and plumbing to match, hooking to the 2.4 evaporator. All seals replaced with r134-compatible material. I think that's right? I'm not a pro when it comes to air conditioning.
