Congrats! I hope to ref mine sometime soon. I'm in SD also, which ref did you go to? Also, not sure what part of town you're in but if you don't mind, I'd like to have you show me your rig and see what they passed you with. I currently have downey headers but I'm told not to ref with those. I kept all the original stuff so I can have another exhaust made, I know I have to buy a cat since mine doesn't work for the year motor I have.

PS: post up a pic of that sticker once you put it on, it's a badge of honor in CA!

There's another 3.4 swapper here in Escondido, and he got his re˟˟˟˟ down in Mira Mesa with Downey headers on. He passed. He just made sure he went there with ALL paperwork for everything on the exhaust. Don't assume they have anything. Show them the CARB sticker/paperwork for the headers and you'll be good.

I'm just about done with my 3.4 swap into my 85 4Runner. I can get it to turn over, but it won't stay running. Looks like I have weak/no spark. I'm close, I can feel it! I'll post a thread when I'm done with a few tips/tricks I discovered.

Let me know if you have any questions on the swap.

Kurt

Thanks Genshie! I'll have to find that paperwork since I can't call Downey with them being out of business and all. The only concern I have about keeping the headers is that since I got one of the last sets from them and they sent me an EGR version and couldn't get it replaced, I modified it to clear the steering shaft I'm not sure the ref will like that...
Congrats on the progress of your swap, it's hugely satisfying once it fires up for the first time! I'm just down the road in Mira Mesa so likewise if I can help with anything let me know.
