Speed sensor or cable

I have a 94 SR5 that I'm putting a 96 Tacoma, 5spd 3.4 in. I had the 3.4 in my old 88 4runner that had a speedo cable. The 96 harness does not have a speed sensor connector on it, as the Tacoma's of that year used a cable. The problem I'm having is the 94 truck uses a speed speed sensor to send signal to the speedo. I thought I may be able to just swap the speedo head from my 88 into the 94 but the screw patterns are different. I know Marlin sells a conversion sensor, but that does me no good if the harness and computer don't use it. Sorry the post is confusing!!! The only other option I see is trying to find a speedo a few years earlier, say 91-93, and see if it uses a cable. Any input is appreciated!!!!

well both the 90 and 91 4runners at least used cables. my 93 pickup xtra cab v6 has the sensor in the tranny. my dad's 92 v6 pickup uses the cable IIRC. I don't know what the differences are, just throwing out what I have seen...

You should be able to grab a speedo from a 92 with electronic speedo and the sender from Marlin and have it all go together.
