Has anyone actually used a 3.4 AC Amplifier?
Tried everything under the moon to get my 3.0 ac amp to work and the only way i can get the compressor to work is to basically hot wire the compressor and bypass the amp and that's just not an option. so i went and got a 3.4 ac amp and wired it up and it still isnt getting the correct input from something because it still wont give a +12v to my compressor. there is alot of hear say about people doing this but i have not seen any posts on it.
So i'm callin people out! hahah.....has this been done and who has done it and how did they wire it to function?
Thanks

studied them for the last 3 weeks....its wired correctly.....and there is no sensor for too much or not enough freon.....not that i know of unless its built into another switch....i get power to my 3.4 amp board and everything tones out per specs from TIS but when i hit the ac switch it never sends power to the clutch....

i don't think you looked at wiring long enough... there are dual pressure switches that cut out for too high pressure and too low as to not kill the pump. And if the rig is auto theres a cut out if your coolant temp gets high. So yeah .... could be any one of those.

b18vteceg,
They may be right. Since you were using the ac with out the ac amp before since some one wired incorrectly previoulsy you may have the high pressure swith cutting the system out. We can take a look at it today.

b18vtec did you get the ac amp for the same year/model as your swap? I have the matching one for my swap and my a/c works fine. I was told by the dealer it needs to match the taco to taco and runner to runner depending what your donor was.

they do not match but i ran the number with toyota dealership and they said the same amp was used from 96 to 00 and mine is a 2000.....and check all my pressure switches and they are correct....bwhitehead and i are gonna tackle it some more tomorrow....

I have been waiting for someone to show how to get the a/c to work on the swap. I know with an ORS harness, or even TMZ's that they work, but I really would like to know what I need to do to get mine to work. I have all the mechanical parts, I just need to know what I need to do to wire it to work.

Its simply a matter of wiring to get them to work. Thats the way ORS and TMZ do thier harness's. Now to get them to work PROPERLY and shut off the compressor at low idle and other such things, you need to use a 3.4 a/c amp. Which is simply a matter of making a conversion harness from the a/c sections of the wiring diagrams of the years of your swaps.
Im using the 3.4 ac amp in my 89 and will do the same in the 92 4runner its been over 3 years since i did my swap so im not sure on the details but im going to do a full write up on every step of the 92 4runner swap.
the 92 will feature full working
3.4 Cruise Control
3.4 A/C amp
3.0 A340H Automatic trans.
and other features.

i purchased a 3.4 ac amp and made a conversion harness and its still not kicking it on....brandon and i are still working on it....but its been sorta put on the back burner....its possible my ecu might not be giving the correct signal....
i wont go into TMZ harness's.....because mine started out a TMZ harness.....but ors i believe uses a relay....regardless im still working on it.....
thanks for your input....

I'm starting to dig back into the A/C thing now that summer is upon us once more. I've been doing some reading and studying the system as best I can. Couple questions:
1. How many A/C amplifiers did Toyota make from 96-00? Are all makes and models the same?
2. I've read somewhere that you need a larger fan on the dryer? At least to get "really cold air"
3. What's the deal with the conversion kits?
