Has anyone mated a Jeep AW4 tranny to a 3.4. Is it doable and how? Thanks

With enough of a budget anything can be done !!

Why do it though because mating that trans at a guess will cost a good bit.

Then there is the use of that forbidden word as well.

 

yes and its easier than you think. the aw4 and a340 are the same trans. swap bellhousing, oil pump, torque convertor, and valve body from an a340 to the aw4 and your good to go. google search aw4 a340 swapability.

you might not have to go that far if the valve bodies are close enough just the bell and tq convertor. yota motors in a jeep would be cool or if your looking for an atlas case to bolt up this would be the best option

 

there is a guy who put a twin turbo 2jz in a cherokee and thats what he did to build a 4wd trans out of the toyota a340e 2wd tranny that came with the swap.

Thanks! Building a buggy and want to use the 3.4 for a motor and need the AW4 to use an Atlas. Any info would be great. Do I need to swap the input shaft?

 

It's a fairly simple swap that I looked into a long time ago but I can't remember all the details now.
