I've put a little over 5,000 miles on it since Christmas, and I'm very happy with it! I do get a very occasional O2 sensor code, but life has been good with it. I love the new power, especially with all the trips to the metro area that I make. I've gotten a few looks from people wondering how I'm keeping up, heading up to the tunnel!

My work area is almost melted out, so the time is just about nigh to finish the cruise control and A/C, and then do something to finish up the hood. The other big project for this summer will be to transfer the e-locker from the Taco, too. I'll address the sagging rear springs while I'm doing that.

We'll have to get together sometime, so that I can show you what I did!

hey guys, how much woudl it be to drop a 4.0 v6 into my 91? i mean if I'm going to spend $2500 on redoing the motr myself, why not just drop in a better one from the get go? My 04 has a 4.0 and it's awesome! (think they are 4.0 anyway) anyway, if thougth if I found a wrecked 03 wiht the 4l motor and stuff I could swap it over, ut i have not found lots of info. is it even cost effective? i was going to use arp head studs, and rod and crank studs for added strength. (helps keep it together). it's going to be my wife's toy one day.

i dont know for sure but I have heard rumor that the any where form 01 or 02 and up is the drive by wire system for the throttle. If so that would complicate things alittle more than usual.

I know that someone on the board did a 4.0 conversion (can't remember who, right now). I do remember that it was almost all custom fabrication and wiring to make it work - Motor and Transmission mounts, custom wiring harness, custom oil pan, ect.

It can be done, if you have the time, money and talent for it, it's just that the 3.4 conversion is a relatively easy one to do, with very little custom work needed (wiring harness is the only major issue).

EDIT: Found it! It was Windancer 4x4: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/swapping-toyota-1gr-fe-4-0l-v6-place-3vz-e-3-0l-v6-53160/

Sweet I'm game.

I have no updates yet as to what I will be doing with the tranny because I don't have a donor truck yet. I might just go pick up a pulled yard engine soon. I just like all the extra parts that a whole truck gets you.

it sure makes the swap easier without the constant runs to the wrecking yard especially when the yard that has the ☺☺☺☺ you need is 3 hours away.

While I did have to source a couple of parts for the fuel evap system to make mine work, having the donor truck sitting right there was a huge help in getting mine done!

And I also get the bonus of transferring the E-Locker from the Taco this summer!
