3.4 Auto ECM to 5 speed swap
Hey guys, another newbie with a 3.4 swap in process. First I would like to thank all of you for the endless amount of information available on this forum. I have read nearly every thread on here that has anything to do with the 3.4 swap. Great info.
I have most of the mechanical work done and in place. I am in the middle of the wiring nightmare and I have a question about the 3.4 Auto ECM working with the manual trans. I have seen several times in these threads where someone says that you have to trick the ECM into thinking that the truck is in Park all of the time. How is this done? Do I simply run a jumper wire from the positive side of the Park to the negative side of the Neutral on the indicator switch wiring?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have done an extension layout (excel file) for the wiring on my swap (97 Auto 4Runner engine to a 94 Man. 4Runner) and will gladly post it after I have debugged it and made sure that everything works properly.

904 Runner has his that way. I am not sure but you might wait and see if he replies but I dont think that he gets around here too often. try PM him or over at Pirate.
I would think that you just jump the wires that are going to the switch. Check the FSM and find the colors.
I am thinking about this as well and wondering if its going to give me a constant check engine light. I would think that it would.

Thanks dntsdad for the info about 904. I will PM him if he doesn't respond in the next day or so.
Also, would like to commendate you on your build, I have been watching it since you started. I know that your swap is very similar to mine as far as the year models are concerned, maybe we could compare wiring notes if you don't mind. I would like to make sure that I am not wiring anything totally wrong before I plug it all in and fry something. I have gone over these EWD's so many times now I'm starting to second guess myself.

Got it started last night!!! Runs great. I decided that the easiest way to trick the ECM into thinking that it was in Park all of the time was to put it in Park. I did this by taking the Park/Neutral switch off of the 97 auto trans (with the switch in the Park position) and plugging the switch into the wiring harness (now in the 94) as if it were on the auto trans. This seems to have worked so far but I haven't tried to drive it yet. The only thing that I have had a problem with is the COR. At the present time I simply bypassed it by wiring the fuel pump to the W-R and W-B in the COR plug, and it is still operated by the ign. switch.

I think that may work but the COR is fairly simply relay circuit. Ecm sends a signalto open the COR and power out to the fuel pump.
What exactly is your issue?

So far the Park/Neutral switch is working but I don't have the OBDII wired in yet so I can't pull any codes. I'll let you know what kind of codes I am getting as soon as I get the OBDII plug in. I'm sure I have something because the check engine light is on. I fixed the COR by doing away with the 94 and wiring in the 97 COR (just had to read thru Elvolta's thread a couple more times to get my head straight).
Finished the wiring (with the exception of the OBDII, AC and the cruise). Now on to the small items: modify the tach, bleed the clutch and brakes, put the dash together and mount the seats - should be ready to ride!!!
Sure been waiting for that day
