3.4 auto and ADD system wiring issues
G'day
I've nearly completed my 5vz swap into my 4runner. It runs and drives great, really happy with it so far,
The problem I've got is the wiring connections for the add system.
The problem I'm having is I'm not sure what the transfer oil pressure switch is actually for. I think it is what is holding me up at this stage. I had it connected up as per the diagram I downloaded, but when it wouldn't work I unplugged it and still had the same issues.
What it does when you put it into 4h and 4l you can hear the add relay clicking and the vsv's cycling aswell,
I've checked the vac hoses going to the diff and they are fine, the diff locks in as it should.
Stopping short of wiring up the relay my own way so it all works I'm wanting to get it working the way Toyota had it.
Cheers

I am reading this wrong cause I dont see the problem. You put it in 4x4 and it actuates the front and locks in. That sounds like it should.
What am I reading wrong?
I didn't even know there was a transfer oil pressure switch.

Please tell us what your rig is and what the donor rig was. Are you useing your transmission from your truck or from the donor? how did the transfer work? button or lever on the donor if its the donor trans?

G'day
Sorry should have been more informative.
It's a Aussie 4runner, used to be a 3vz with the a340h auto.
It's now a got a 5vz using the same auto and transfer. The engine is from what we. Call a prado, it's just a bigger version of the 4runner.
4wd is engaged by moving the lever in the centre console, 2h 4h and 4l.
ATM it's engaging 4h, but not 4l and the dash light won't turn on. To make it switch the vsv on for the front I just connected the earth of the add relay to the transfer indication switch so when the lever is moved into 4h or 4low it provides the earth.
Up until I'd done this temporary measure it would only engage the transfer but not the front diff, it wouldn't have 4low either.
The add relay would be clicking like mad as would the vsv's for the diff.
I haven't changed anything else in the system other than the engine loom. So every thing goes down to the body loom plugs as it always did, the difference is now the hook up of the front diff and the gearbox loom.
There are a couple of things in the gearbox I'm not sure about, one is this transfer oil or temp ( not really sure as 2 diagrams I have call it different things) and the transfer engage solenoid? I'm not sure what either of these do or how it affects the add system/ engagement of low 4.
Cheers

Sorted it all out today, just hooked up no.4 solenoid through a relay and used the l4 part of the transfer indication switch to ground the relay and turn the solenoid on. The vac side of things is all good.
