22re wiring

As I thought I'm having a hard time figuring what wire does what. Can I assume there is a different color wire for each function and no repeating colors as far as it doing another function? So I can check the connectors at say the oil pressure gauge and see what color wire is there and go back into the cab and find that wire color so I know which wire it is?

Maybe Do you feel lucky ??

Toyota can do interesting things with wire harnesses .

What starts out one color could come to a connector and change colors

The only real easy way I have found to do a swap is have both The Engine year and model and the vehicle year and model Toyota Electrical Wiring Diagrams.

I like having the hard copies . In fact I would not even attempt doing so with out them.

Ok I've got them but thought it might be easier to just follow the wires that are on the truck

95% of the wires are the same from year to year but I have seen in about each harness that there is some variance. If your truck is the same year they did carb and EFI, even the same year they changed something. I would want the exact year if it were me.

Another possibility that you could do that might help verify you are on the same wire, is to run a continuity check from one end of the wire to the other. Toyota uses several wires that look similar for example a yellow wire with a purple stripe that could be a burgundy color. Really check the colors and some may or may not have hash marks on the wiring the could make you think you are on the same wire.

For a quick example, look at your wiper motor. They are 4 blue wires but have different stripes and can get confusing.
