Hophead, thanks for the offer. I think we actually met once. I bought something off you or vice versa. I can't remember now. Regardless, it would be good to check out your swap and maybe pick your brain on a couple points at some time.

Thanks for the "heads-up" Looks like a first class job so far!
And, Yep, I still have the Motorhome. Not thinking about selling though :-P (I have another kid on the way so it looks like it will be my only project truck for quite some time)

Andrew. :-)

Thanks Andrew. Weren't you holding a newborn when I picked up the motor. You've been busy. lol

Well I didn't have time to do much today. Got the old battery tray out though. I Drilled out the spot welds. Toyota bonded a few corners with epoxy or something. I just peeled it off and it came away easily.

Cleaned it up and sprayed some paint on it. I think I am going to put the motor in soon. Then I can mount the airbox and start the wiring.

Thanks Cadman. Your swap is one of the cleanest I've seen and I'll be copying a few of your ideas. Although without access to a machine shop I'll have to hide some of my fabrications under a little more paint.

Put the ORS xover on the motor. Had it ceramic coated first. I think tomorrow she goes in:

Today was a good day. Got the motor in the bay. Went a lot easier than I anticipated.

It sure fits in there well. Motor mounts and tranny both line up perfect. I can't believe how much more room there is to work on it compared to the 3.0.

Here are a few pics.

Flywheel and pilot bearing installed. Pilot bearing proved to be a PITA to get out but I managed.

New clutch:

My neighbour Clive helping me drop it in:

There she is. It sits pretty high without a body lift. Definitely going to need a hole in the hood. LOL.

Thanks guys. It's working out well. I had to take a couple days off. Life got in the way. I am going to see about getting the airbox mounted tomorrow. Then start hooking up various things.

I'll post up a few pics of how the airbox mounting turns out.

Well I had the day to work on a few things. I got the airbox mounted. I basically copied Cadmans thread with some minor changes. Here's a link to his thread:

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160...16/index5.html

I drilled a 3.25" hole for the elbow and then elongated it so that I could put the mounting flange on the inside like they are stock. I was originally just going to mount it to the outside like Cadman but with my airbox location it made more sense to put it inside. I had to make one bracket to help support it.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Then I made a small "L" bracket to support the tube inside the fender.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I had to cut the top and rear support arms off so I made another support to go underneath. I reused the stock rubber bushings to mount the box to the bracket. It bolts on inside the box.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

The back of the airbox sits just off the sheet metal. So I cut a hole in the back bottom of the box and put one of the stock rubber isolaters in it. Then I just bolted it right to the sheet metal. Worked out perfect.

The metal sleeve is missing in the picture.

[IMG][/IMG]

Nice and solid but flexes a bit to allow for engine movement. I compared it to a stock one and it felt about the same.

With that out of the way I didn't have a lot of time left so I did a couple of little things.

I hooked up the heater hoses. That wasn't fun! Incidently, can someone tell me if I hooked these up right. I couldn't remember which goes where. I think it's right but I wouldn't mind a confirmation. Thanks.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I think I am going to splice a "T" in there as well, to help bleed the system.

Then I installed the clutch hose bracket. So far the part I am the least impressed with from the ORS kit. I'll probably change this in the future.

[IMG][/IMG]

Cut and modified some bracket for the engine harness and routed it behind the charcoal canister.

[IMG][/IMG]

I hooked the vacuum line up for the brake booster. i almost forgot to put the one way valve back in.

[IMG][/IMG]

Last I mounted the starter and called it quits. I think I'll mount the rad and fuel lines tomorrow, then start thinking about wiring.

The heater core hoses look like I did it, with the exception of a couple "T's" I put in for the rear heater.

Not sure what I'll be up to Sat. Jeremy but if I plan on working on the truck I'll let you know. I might go skiing though.

Jonnyboy, thanks.

Looking good, Axel. Yes, the heater hoses are hooked up correctly. You should be close to firing it up with the progress your making
