Worst Day Ever! Broken 1st gen rear leaf!

Let me start out by saying I woke up at 4AM today to volunteer with my mother at the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure breast cancer fundraiser. There were 3 things to ruin this day for me:

1. Upon arriving at the race, I saw that the detachable piece of the tonneau cover frame was missing, so this evening we went out to find it. We left at 6PM, and by 8PM, no luck- we're comin home. GUESS WHAT! Its at the top of my street, and it ad been runover. Fortunately, it still fits except for the 3 snaps that dont line up anymore.

2. My rear suspension has been squeaking a little for a couple days, no biggie i figured. It worsened by today, and I checked it out after the Race, and my right rear leaf spring pack has 2 broken leaves in the 3 leaf pack! Not good!!!

3. Last but not least, my brakes are grinding and they need work as well. Inspection is due for me this month so it needed checked anyway.

Any suggestions or advice on where to find some replacement rear leaf springs for a 84-88 pickup would be GREATLY appreciated!

I need my truck to get to school and to work, so this is URGENT!

Thanks!
-Tim

Spitz auto parts(724) 863-8108) is about 25 min from Pittsburgh. Five minutes from me. They stocked new springs for my 92 toy 4x4 for $95 a side. Give them a try.

I'm picking up a set for my F-250 that they stock also.

I tried a couple local spring shops and they wanted $400 for the pair.

Too bad Spitz couldn't help. JC Whitney maybe?

NWOR sells stock leaf springs also.

The website or NWOR. I didn't come across this site until December long after I got home.

First came across them surfing the net in kosovo last year. Got their catalog and like their 1 1/2 torsion bar set with springs. Looking at going that way for now.

No, I never saw anyone recommend them. They have a bad reputation around the forums. So you are a happy customer huh?

Wow, I swear I said this earlier once already, must be losing my mind!

Anyway, I bought the Downey's on Monday and hopefully they will be here early next week. Had some troubles getting the old springs off- rust, frozen bushings, etc., so we bought some greasable Daystar shackes as well. Hopefully they won't take long to arrive!

Thanks for all the help guys.

I will update you on the installation once its complete.

-Tim
