Hey guys after my truck sat for over 2 months my wheels were in bad shape. I have tried to scrub this stuff off but the spots remain. There are no pits. What do I use to get this stuff off??? Help.. It looks like crap.. Here's the wheel


And here's what I have tried so far to get it off with. I scrubbed with a sponge.. was afraid to try steel wool.. Any ideas??

 

This is the best stuff I have ever used.

 

I use MOTHERS aluminum polish on mine. It works really good.

Thanks guys my Dad suggested Mothers too. I'll have to try and get some online..

Are those wheels clearcoated? I had that happen to my custom Celica wheels I had. I ended up stripping them and polishing them. I hope it doesn't come to that for you.

I'd check to see if you can use the Mothers on clear coat (if they are clear coated). It might end up replacing those spots with scrathes. What about toothpaste? or softscrub?

I have used Mothers on polished, steel, aluminum, clear coated, etc. No problems.

As with anything, you should test a small area first. You shouldnt be disappointed.

I used Mothers on my Celica wheels, but by 4R wheels are all scratched (clearcoat) I've got nothing to lose, maybe I'll give them a buff this weekend. Time for something new when the tires are spent - probably end of the summer.

 

well since we talking about wheels..does anyone know what the offset are on the stock 95 4runner rims? and also how big are they? 15x8?

Aluminum or Steel?

 

i would presume aluminum..they look like the rims in your avatar.

 

Those are 15x7. I can't remember the backspacing, but I think its 3.75"

EDIT: My wheels say "OFFSET 8" on them. I think that means 8cm of offset = 3.14" (a little over 3 1/8")

 

ok, well my truck is on 30X9.50 tires..so im assuming my rims are 15X8 atleast..and my offset on my rims do say 8cm aswell. thanks

 

back on subject, I get that crap on my wheels a lot and I've found that at a certain carwash (Mike's Carwash...but I think they are just an Indiana chain) You can get a wheel brite, and that stuff takes it off, and makes em shine like no other. Maybe next time I will ask them what wheel brite they use!

 

Stock Toyota Wheels are 15X7! 30X9.5 tires are dinky. You can put 32's on a 7 inch rim.

Thanks for the inputs guys I hope the mothers work. I been needing something to get them shiny again. The winter here really took it's toll. I think when I get back to the states I'll start putting my stockers back on for winter.

 

Hey guys I think I found a solution. Bought this stuff today from a recommendation by a couple of my British Friends seems to do wonders



I just tried it out on the bottom and the it's a night and day difference. Going to take alot of work but I think it'll be worth it
