Tranny problems at 190kms??

Ive been noticing lately that my truck(96 4runner Auto) is shifting real hard, and when im in the freeway, when i click the Over drive, it revs up first, then switches the gear... sometimes it doesnt do it but then its a rough shift... are these normal? possible signs of my tranny about to explode? thanks for any input.

Scotty,
I would check the trans fluid level first, it could be low. It could be that a shift solinoid is/has gone bad possibly. I believe the solinoids are located on the tranny.
