Unhappy Seal question..

I was on break at work and walked out to my truck to show it to a friend of mine who has an '86 yota, and we looked at my rear differential and i noticed it had oil on it, I think it came from the seal where the driveshaft joins it. What could cause that, how hard is it to fix and how much would it cost to have someone else do it?
Thanks a lot,
-Bryan

Did you check the oil level in the differential?

It's not too hard to replace a pinion seal, provided you have the right tools.

Good question, mine's been leaking for a couple months now. Everytime I park it there's a couple drops on the ground but when I check the level it's fine. I'm just going to keep an eye on it and use the leak as justification to install an arb locker when it gets bad.

Hmm, well mine doesn't seem to be leaking too badly, but I go wheeling whenever I have the chance. I don't like the idea of my differential losing fluid, so this weekend I guess I'll see about fixing it, or having it fixed if I don't have access to the tools I need.
