Porter cable substitute

To all you Griot's fanatics

The Porter Cable is pretty pricey and I was wondering what you guys thought of these:

Is there a specific reason why the Porter Cable is SO much more expensive???

Peter,

The PC is a random orbital sander/buffer and there is really no way to damage your paint using it.

I don't think either of those above are RO.

I got my PC from Lowes for $107 with free shipping.

Duh :pat:
okay, thanks!

How did you find the PC on Lowe's?
It asked me for a zip code and is telling me the store nearest me doesn't have it

I'll check out the site again - I probably did something wrong.

EDIT:
I should probably delete the thread before this becomes a serious embarrassment

Peter,

As I recall it was kinda hard to find. I think if you type in 7306 or 7306SP, which is the model number of the PC it comes up. They also have it listed as a sander I think and not a buffer.

Pete, I have links on my detail site that is in my sig.
Never buy the PC from Griot's, it's simply to much $$$, and Meguiar's also charges way to much for it.

As mentioned, you want the random orbit feature of the PC.
I have vids on my site showing how easy it is to use.

Thanks for the link - you're awesome
I guess I went wrong in looking for a random orbital instead of random orbit :pat:

Corey:
Yeah, I've seen the video clip and it beats (by far) how I clay bar'd my sister's car this past weekend. Dang, it was in bad shape and it's a small Corolla!

My Tacoma isn't that bad but a hand clay-ing doesn't sound very appealing

Then again... $110 *whew*

Someone on Ebay is selling 2 really beat up ones for pretty cheap - maybe I'll go that way

EDIT:
Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the help

I got my PC 7336 with a polishing pad to boot from Home Depot for $150, but I had to ask them to order it for me. IT WAS NOT LISTED ON THE WEBSITE. Came in within 7 days.

Worth all the money I paid for it because I clayed, polished and waxed my whole rig in less than an afternoon and my arms didn't fall off like they did when I did all that by hand.
