Valoline

My father was a mechanic and used nothing else.

My mother was partial to Wesson Oil.

Sorry about the smart remark.

Castrol GTX. Only way to go. No real reason though.

mobil 1

For me, simply due to convience/price. Amsoil sounds good, but it's just a bit more....and I can't get it at the store when I need it.

I ran Castol GTX for YEARS - I'm pretty much a newbie on the mobil 1 tip...but so far my car/truck seem to REALLY be running nice with it.

I recently converted from Catrol GTX to Mobil1 synthetic. Mainly for gas mileage.

HaveBlue-
so, you've noticed a mileage increase with Mobil 1? What has your gain been? I'm on my 2nd tank with the 4R and still on my 1st tank w/ my Camry - look like 1-1.5 mpg improvement in city traffic.

Is it true that you have to change to a different type of oil for the winter? Like a thicker one or something? And could somebody explain the meaning of the weights or numbers? Thanks.

you really shouldn't need to switch to a thinner oil in the winter....todays oils are pretty much all weather, unless you live in the extremes.
