Question Clutch pedal bracket replacement???

After replacing the clutch and getting a new tranny I started having problems again (both were bad). I thought I was going to have to hurt someone at the tranny shop. Anyhow, found out that the pedal bracket on the firewall was broken. The local stealership wants $160 for a new one. Found one online for $115. My questions are:

Has anyone done this replacement before?
How big of a pain the in @%^& is it?
How long should I plan to do this (couple hrs, all day, week)?

Thanks

happened to me once, had my mechanic rre weld it and renforce it too. Cost about 500 for that, a master and a slave plus a new clutch line. Ouch! But he gaurentees his work.

I had to remove mine and heavily reinforce it. Doing it the 1st time took me about 3 hrs to get it out working at a sluggish pace. Only took 45 mins to get it back in after welding it up. If yours looks anything like mine did you are going to have problems trying to find an upper mount for it. The factory upper mount is pretty wimpy and usually breaks out. I will take a pic of what I did later.

Looking forward to the pics.

It's cracked slightly above the clutch start switch. So when I press in the clutch the plate flexes and the clutch doesn't work quite right.

I looked in my FSM and there's nothing about this in there so it'll be a learning experience.

No pics yet but I can tell you it was a 2 person job for me. I had my friend pulling the brake booster and the clutch master cyl away from the fire wall after thay where unbolted so I could twist the bracket on its side and slide it out. My truck is a 1990 and when I pulled mine out it was clear some hack mechanic tried to arc weld on it while it was in place. I finally figured out what the problem was when I was looking at the clutch master cyl trying to figure out if it was low on fluid when I noticed it was getting pushed through the fire wall . I have the benefit of owning a miller 180 wire feed so I was able to really work the thing over so that it will NEVER break again.

Had the same problem on my former '91.
Had it welded, no more problems...$300.00, all in.
In Canada the part costs $280.00
Seems to be pretty common.
