A/C does not work that well after being charged
My wifes durango had the heater core go out a ways back and I had to discharge the A/C in order to replace the heater core. I just now got around to charging her A/C and though it had been uncharged for so long, the mechanic claimed it held a charge and did not leak. However it only blows slightly cold air now where it used to be rather chilly. The mechanic said something to the fact of somethign under the dash...
I would know more, but my wife did this without letting me know until he was already charging the system. Then when he had to talk to me I was in the middle of dealing with a client at work and fixing the plotter. He was getting less the 1/3 of my attention. In any case, any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Make sure the mix control is functioning properly. In other words, when you turn the temp control all the way to cold, watch the "other end" and make sure it is hooked up and working as it should.

Depends on the vehicle. I have no idea where it is on a Durango. On my old 88 Celica it was on the firewall (engine side). On our Accord, it is under the dash. It just depends. That might be what he is talking about.

Make sure it's not overpressurized. It's more of an issue on the newer systems, but can also happen on the old ones as well. Does the ac pump cycle on and off? That's a clue right there.

Got a better chat with the mechanic that worked on it finally...
He said it is charged within specs and it deffinatly cycles on and off. He even mentioned that it gets cold, but it seems as though the door does not switch from hot to cold. I guess this makes sense as it is a little cold, but not much. Guess I am tearing down the dash tonight...

One more thing...
The new freon replacement (new to me, but been around for nearly 10 years) is more sensitive to this than the old stuff. If your car has the newer system, you can adjust the pressure yourself. Everything you need is at your local Autozone/Advance Auto/Wal-Mart. If you're dealing with the old freon, you'll want to take it to an AC tech so they can recapture any released freon.

the blend door is electric.you shouldn't have to remove the dash to replace it.it is on the bottom in the middle.
