Question Automatic Transmission Question

I have a 1994 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 with an automatic transmission. My transmission is hecka slipping, so basically I need a new one. And my question was, would an auto transmission from a 1992 4Runner 2wd work in mine? Or what would I have to do to make it work. Cause I can get one of those from a guy who is partin his runner out. Anything you guys know wbout this would help. Thanks...

Probably not, if you want to keep 4WD. As I understand it your transfer case for all practical proposes can't be separated from your tranny. Also the ECU controls your tranny so there may be an incompatibly between your ECU and the 2WD 92 tranny.

My auto tranny slips and wont catch and gointo gear, but when I reved it into the high rpm's around 4k, it catches sometimes. And in 4 low its like normal. From what I know i basically need a new transmission, but if you guys think it may be something else a little less expensive let me know. Or if you have a tranny for me that would also be cool. Thanks...

so taking a auto tranny from a 2wd affects the 4wd in mine? Isn't that the transfer case that would affect my 4wd capabilities?

You may want to call Marlin and see if he knows of a way to do it. http://www.marlincrawler.com/. If anyone knows, he probably would.
