It depends if its 2 or 4wd. I just did both my Runners and it seems like 8 plus or minus. Look at the drive shafts. The front shaft has them on the ends and the rear shaft has them on the ends and 1 in the center. You may have to move the car forward or reverse to see the nipples. Some are well hidden in the center of the joints. The front shaft can be spun by hand to find. The double chardon joints (these may be on 2nd gens only) are suppossed to use a different type of gease also. The 2nd gens has all this info on the visor, but the third gens may be in the owners manual.

I just need to know if they are any different on the '01 4x4 due to the "new" 4x4 system.

Cubera, Yes you will still have grease fittings on 2wd just about half as many as 4wd (only one drive shaft). They should be on the ends and center.
rwmorrisonjr, If you mean the multi mode awd, I don't think there are any more than normal 4wd. I just did my wifes 99Ltd, and didnt see any more than normal. I think the only thing different on the multimode is the transfer case. BTW I got to use the multi mode over the weekend on the snow covered mountain roads and its great.
