out of ordinary swap question

hi, my mom has a 93 pontiac bonneville with the 3800 v6 in it, i love this motor, its only just turning 100k but the body has gone to hell and they're she's just gonna junk it so i figured free motor and electronics... i was wondering if its even possible to put a fwd engine into a 4x4, idk, if so, what would i need? i have the whole car and the engine runs great so if its even possible, prob not the easiest or the smartest swap but i think it'd be sweet

Where do we start?

Custom motor mounts, assuming you can fit the engine between the frame rails and below the hood.

Custom exhaust, since I doubt there are aftermarket headers that fit your application.

Bigger radiator.

Custom bellhousing. Hopefully you can find a clutch and flywheel for the 3800 to fit your tranny.

Wiring would be interesting.

I'm sure there is more to this that I'm missing.

Try a Supra swap. It would be easier and is well documented.

well if anything, i'm gonna put a gm 4.3 v6 in it... it would be cheaper to get a full vehicle for parts and any other stuff you might need. also tons of aftermarket support by various off road companies... and its a powerhouse for a v6... the supra swap would be cool cuz i would like to stay with all toyota but i looked at some prices of complete engines and they are like 2k, whereas i can get a running 4.3 out of an old blazer for around 500 for the whole vehicle cuz the body's shot... an engine swap for me is in the far future, my 22re only has 120k on it an it runs like a champ so lockers are first on the list... but thanks for the input, i appreciate it

FWD and RWD 3800II blocks are exactly the same, but You'll wish You had the RWD intake plenum before it's all said and done. I promise.

no ordinary swap

Along side my dad; we've gone from V-8 Pinto's to turbo V-6's into RX-7's.
You want BANG for your buck? I suggest using the 4.3L chev. with it's tranny and transfer case. Then your main mounts and drive shafts are the major part of the swap. Are you wanting to go carbed or fuel injected?
Changing drive-shaft length is relatively easy as well as welding up cross members that will utilise the vehicles factory bolt holes.
You would want to have the engine and tranny/t-case bolted together in the truck suspended by blocking/jacks/or hoists for lining up and measuring/cutting all the pieces needed to fab up your mounting components.
All the electrical and fuel/exhaust stuff will need to be looked at after the engine is mounted.(good idea to line up stuff that will work ahead of time though) Good luck on this. sounds like a fun project! =) What other ideas you got???
