ok i just bought a toyota pickup 4x4 the cab is a 86 but sitting on 78 fram with a 20 r motor i want to use it for trail riding and rock crawling . should i keep 2o r in it . are put a 350 motor in it. if i keep the 2o r i plan to rebuild it . what should i do

i am asking for help and no know what to say i am new at this and have no idea what to do and what to do . so i am asking you all .

 

i have a fairly fresh 22 r in my 86, engines out of an 82-84. its geared low enough to get you over whatever you need it too but i drove it 2 hours on the highway today with slightly larger than stock tires and it left alot to be desired. i had to downshift into 4th and pin it when going up slight hills to maintain my 110 km an hour. the 350 would be nice if you dont mind the swap. if its on a 78 frame then its solid axle and thats half the battle won right there. my buddy had major clearance issues just putting a chevy 4.3 in his ifs. personally im going to keep the 22r but if you plan on doing alot of highway trips to go offroading with it dont plan to get there in a hurry.
