toyota front axle question

toyota front axle question

why is there a spring pearch on the botom of the passenger side toyota axle ? why is it there ? and should I cut it off?

may be just to keep the U- bolts straight?

i think that you might be right...might have to deal with the curve of the differential housing...

The stock u-bolts run up and over the springs and there is a plate down below where the nuts screw onto the bolts. The extra bottom perch on the passenger is to allow that bottom plate to sit flat next to the curve of the differential hosing:
