there is a big variance with prices to do the swap because not everyone builds to the same final outcome nor do they use the same items in their build. also, do these prices reflect doing the rear upgrades to match the front? lastly, consider the huge price spike when you pay someone else to do it for you.

for example, if you were to SAS your rig with brand new TG parts - you're looking at somewhere like $7-8k for just new parts, then you gotta add in your labor to make it happen -- and this is just for the front axle.

as for your personal build, i can think of several things that some people would consider "necessary" to complete your build, which get pricing closer to the range you're seeing other talk about. these are items like: upgraded axle shafts, upgraded knuckles, gearing/locker/hi pinion options for front diff....it all adds up and eventually you get to the $3k+

I hope mine will cost what yours did.
Most I see when people talk about the cost they include new tires and rims, re-gearing the axles, and lockers

true for all of that.....i dont call that an sas, i think thats a truck build......i mis-understood.....i thought it was costing people 3G+ to do just the swap......brain fart or something.....

i am adding a HP front diff with 5.29's, a grizzly, same gears and locker in the rear, long's, york onboard air, probably more......but in pcs or my wife will move out....lol

so to start im just doing the sas swap.....it will still drive and get me into the bush to go hunting.......then gears and lockers, then the rest

i dont take my time in to context......im a fabricator by trade.....so i dont bill myself out to myself....lol.......unless you count the beer......then yes.....i definately see the 3g+ bill.......lmao

I'm on the same page as you Garvok I saw some of these "SAS" builds and they approached 10k. Mine is gonna be somewhere just over 1000 total but much less than 2000. It will be documented in my 2001 Tacoma SAS thread.

Excellent! I still have to buy shocks so my costs will be close to 1500 by the time my 01 hits the road. Mine does not factor in such things as new stereo or hi-tech bucket seats ....or BIG tires/wheels/gear change/

Wow if your paying 7k plus just for parts, you are really getting screwed. I got my whole front and rear suspension brand new for about 2k and a few other things. Think I got maybe 3k in with the suspension, doubler, and front an rear 85 axles. Just alot of my time and brews in there.
