question about shackle frame tubes.

Hey im doing a sas on my 88 4runner. the instructions say to have the shackle tubes sticking out 1/4 inch on the outside of the frame. but does that mean the farthest part should stick out 1/4 inch or the closest part? do you guys know what i mean?

I deleted your other thread.
No need to double post the same question.

It's only been an hour, feel free to keep bumping it to the top if you want but give everybody a chance to read it and respond.

Good luck,

Fink

That's so you can get a weld on it and so it is centered properly.

And he is talking about the FRONT axle.

alright i called trail gear and they said you measure so the very bottom of the shackle tube sticks out 1/4 inch on the outside of the frame. they should clear that up in their instructions. cause the frame tapers in so the front measurement would be different from the rear of the shackle tube.

thanks for the help. i hope this info helps someone else too

Oh, missed the SAS part.

Yea, it has to stick out so you have something to weld to, and a flush surface for the shackle to mount to.

i knew why it had to stick out and it had to be 1/4 inch out but i didnt know where to measure the 1/4 inch from cause the frame tapers in on both sides.
