hey guys i am going to put a high pinion diff in the front axle on my sas'd runner. question is i can get a housing for next to nothing, now will a 4cyl carrier fit in there or should i use my rear v6 carrier in the hp diff and lock the rear. need to know what carrier will fit in there thanks guys

 

new gears will also be installed just need to know what carrier will fit the hp diff

A 4cyl carrier will not work. You can use a v6/turbo carrier.

 

Idk where you heard that.
A 4 cylinder carrier was found stock in the front of all solid axle rigs from 79-85..
the 6 cyl carrier is just stronger, so it's preferred.

 

the high pinion front is a V6/turbo setup though, not a 4cy. They also have thier own (not run of the mill V6) gear sets because they are reverse cut gears. I know factory 4.10's are available and aftermarket 4.88's and probably a 5.xx.

 

thanks guys trail gear has a locker conversion for the hp diff with gears so im going to use that with a v6 carrier in a new housing. going to be SWEET!
