Got axle...next step

Well picked-up a 84 SFA. It will be next summer before I get it installed or get the kits. What could a newbie do meanwhile????

Thanks,
Dan

Rebuild your axle: http://www.wabfab.org/products/axle/axle.htm

Other than that...save $$$ for the SAS and lift.

Let me know if I can help you with something.

i just recently aquired my axle and havent had the cash to build it yet but i have seen that preping it takes time. Im talking about cleaning/grinding old bracketry off such as the tourque arm mount. Its very time consuming but im sure it will pay off. It doesnt cost that much to do, i.e. maybe some recip. saw blades and some grinding wheels.

Mine is chilln on stands beside the shed till further notice.

I will be buying the full kit (saves $) and doing the axle rebuild, gussets cleaning grinding, welding all at once, then the SAS.

I'd buy the kits separate but in the end this costs more $... I can wait =)

Definetly rebuild it. Save up and put some longs in it first(sick). Maybe get some new six stud knuckles(very sick). New gears and possible locker(extreamly sick). Anything I missed would put it over the top. It doesnt take too long to rebuild an axle as long as you have some good tools to do the right job. If your starting to go this far in wheelin you might as well start adding that to your bugget.

Have fun Thats the most important part with what ever you do in the meantime
