i can get them hooked up but fully drooped they pull tight.i left them not hooked up for now.how can i extend them?this is a 94 runner w 3.0 and an auto trans.

You can loosen/relocate/eliminate clamps holding the cable as it runs along the frame back to the rear axle. On my '85, I relocated the front couple of cable clamps, I think the first one I just turned the clamp upside down so the mounting bolt was above instead of below the cable. The next one back I used a lower bolt hole on the frame and for the 3rd clamp, I eliminated that one and instead loosely tied the cable down onto one of the spring clamps to keep if from rubbing on anything. That and I also fashioned a riser for the axle end of the cable, not sure if that would work on the '94 axle/e-brake or not:

 

thanks roger.mine looks different than your pic.i have all of the clamps off and at full droop its still too short.

 

Mine does get pulled rather tight at full droop but unless I have the frame on jack stands, never really encounter that situation on the road or trail. Could always add a limit strap in the center of the axle to keep the cable from being pulled apart.

 

still trying to figure this one out.i was now hoping to buy a t case mounted ebrake but any of the ones ive looked at say they wont work with a auto.any suggestions?

You can usually get 2" or so of lenth from where the cable mounts to the front cable. Adjust the long nut as far as it goes...

 

took a quick look yesterday and it looks like i might be able to get the driver side hooked up if i take all of the mounts off of it.i wonder if a driver side cable will work on the pass side too?that would prolly do it.
