1987 4runner.. couple questions

As of right now i have a 1987 4runner. It been lifted 6 inches all the way around.
as of right now it has the ifs but i'm looking to do a solid axles swap. manly because my front differential is toast but also cause i want it flexy..
i'm trying to figure out what to use for leaf springs in the front. I have a set of axles from a 84 but i know that wont sit very high. can i use some chevy springs or what? How hard is it to set up the steering.
can i just use shackles in the front?
im 17 and this is my first build so just looking for some pointers. Thanks in Advance!

You have a couple different options. You can do RUF which is rears up front. This is a little cheaper option. You move your rear leaf springs to the front, and buy new rear springs. Another option is to buy some springs for the front, and do a chevy 63" swap in the rear. Or, you could always buy new springs. Depends on how much you are looking to spend. For springs, look at trail gear, marlin crawler, all pro offroad, and there are some others but those are more common.

About the regearing 4.11s for 33s. That isn't necessary for daily driving, but for maximum power offroad, you would want to regear. But you can get by without regearing. Right now I am running 33s on 4:10s because it is pointless to regear on IFS when I am planning on SAS this summer. Hope this helps. Common gear setups. 33s=4.88s 35s=4.88 or 5.29 36+=5.29

The rear springs in your 87 are actually the best ones to use for the rears up front (RUF) option. The centre pin is the farthest forward, therefore pushing your axle farther forward. Try and find 6 or 7 leafs for the front plus 5" shackles and you'll be good to go.

For more spring ideas, search pirate4x4, more specifically the Toyota Bible. That thing should answer most of your questions.
