Wheelin for the Wounded
A group in Tulsa (Tulsaoffroad.com) is hosting Wheelin for the Wounded in Oklahoma. It will be a great event and thought some people on here might wount to come or help.
Wheelin for the Wounded
The event is not part of WFTW as of now so we changed the name to Wheelin for the Wounded. Tulsaoffroad.com will be hosting the event.
Wheelers for the Wounded (WFTW) is an organization with the primary mission of providing a weekend of off-roading, camping, and in some cases fishing, to our country's wounded military members all over the United States. This will provide them with much deserved fun and excitement as they traverse the most extreme terrain our great country has to offer in a variety of the best off-road capable vehicles ever built. ( http://www.wheelersforthewounded.org )
So to go one step further - Chris (SilverBack from Tulsaoffroad.com) has graciously stepped forward and taken over leadership from the OKJeepthing.org group who was originally running the event. It became overwhelming for their group and they reached out to tulsaoffroad.com for some help and that is where they came in.
So far they have money donated and a few gifts from various promoters to give away at the event raffle.
The event will be held Saturday July 25th and Sunday July 26th 2009 at Hogans Off-Road Camp in Disney, Oklahoma.
Our list of current confirmed sponsors are:
Kings Off-Road Enterprises - KORE
High Altitude Climbing Services LLC
Redline Signs
Tulsa Instant Printing
B&S Muffler and Brakes
Sams Off-Road
Harmon 4x4
BDS Suspensions
They are currently holding weekly meetings for more ideas and coordination of various activities and resources.
food
music
fund raisers
transportation
lodging
etc etc
We look forward to a full turn out from tulsaoffroad.com to offer up rides to our US Veterans and are inviting all the other surrounding clubs and groups to join in and help make the Oklahoma experience a fun and full out event!!

Also since this event is not actually coordinated through him it is probably a good idea that we don't use the same name "Wheelers" as him because he is an actual organization recognized with the government and the veterans administration, and if he goes out, which i really hope he doesn't, we don't need to be sposoring a run under his name. So now the event is Wheelin for the Wounded hosted by Tulsaoffroad.com
