Trail suggestions at Anza-Borrego?

So I'll be taking my girlfriend out to Anza to see some wildflowers. I'll be taking my Tacoma which is 2WD unlocked (), do you guys have any trail suggestions? I have this book and it's given me some ideas:

but is there anyone with firsthand knowledge of some good easy trails out there - just plain dirt roads are fine
Jennifer has been caring for her mom who had surgery last week and her sister (sick) while being sick herself, cooking for her entire family, and helping her father with office work.

She just needs to get away and see nothing around her but sky and ground (hopefully with lots of flowers).

Where do you live? North County....San Diego city....East County????

We took me friend with a extra cab 4 cyl prerunner Taco down by plaster city and he did fine. Pretty fun run.

Basically take the 8 out past the Golden Acorn Casino, come down the grade, Exit at Ocotillo town and head North. You will see many trails. We went through Canyon Sin Nombre without issues. Lots of easy wheeling around there and there are some fun mud caves to explore.

It's a fun day... I highly recommend it. Not sure about flowers. We saw some out at Superstition a couple months ago.........Hey why don't you come to Superstition with us on the 1st????

Here are some pics of the terrain

I would love to but I have issues with my 1st gen that need addressing. Torn CV, leaking diffs, exhaust leak. Nothing a good 2-3 days of solid labor couldn't fix, I'm sure. But I just haven't had the time.

That and we're going to be starting some security detail at work and I'm sort of on call as supervisor for that week.

EDIT:
oh yeah, we're going to be headed out on the 78. Probably pass through Julian.

oh don't worry about that
I'm only going to be doing stuff I know will be safe. Such as dirt roads and mini-stream crossings. We have a lot to do on Saturday and I don't want to waste the day stuck or worse.

As far as off the 78....

I would just tool around Ocotillo wells if you've never been there. You can check out the shell reef....pretty neat. You probably want 4x4 to get to pumpkin patch. You'll probably see some flowers up that way too.

Another good option is Fish creek and Sandstone Canyon-they are in the book you have. Mostly fast prerunning stuff through fish creek, with lots of fingers to explore like Sandstone canyon. Makes for a fun run. When you come out of that area you can run over to Ocotillo and playin the dunes.

Another really good option in Coyote Canyon in Borrego Springs. You can make it all the way until you hit the last water crossing and start climbing the rocky section. The flowers are going crazy out there this year.

If I see any of you guys I'll be sure to say hi but as I mentioned before, my girlfriend has had a very tough week so it'll be mostly for the flowers and some trails only if she wants to find an isolated spot to get away.

I'm up for a run in summer though!
