Testing GPS Run... 8-9-2003
Jowie and I wanted to go on a exploratory run with our GPS's... we decided to head east of Marysville. We wanted to goto Monte Christo and explore some of the FS roads but couldn't get there, we didn't have too much time, left Marysville at 12ish, got back around 4... It was fun, since it was my first mini-run since the accident...
Before we got to Darrington, we saw lotsa ppl being carted up into the FS roads, and the helicopter with the bucket, and older prop bombers used for fire fighting... saw the base camp... the the area they were filling up the bucket. Of course they shut down the river for that reason.. anyways, I'm rambling now... here's a pic of the route we took.

I use Garmin's Mapsource, but the map module I have loaded is the US Topo... there's different maps you can load into it, like I have US waterways, roads and rec, us topo, and worldmap...
Its pretty cool, but I have my complaints....

I mostly use OziExplorer. With Ozi you can download and use the free USGS topo maps. It also handles satellite pics. Here is an example from a little run in Anza Borrego State park here in SoCal.
Like TopoUSA, Ozi has a 3D feature, great fun!
