Squaw Ridge/Pardoes Trail August 27-28 2011

I am ordering a mig welder today. So ill let you know when i have it. hope you can weld, as it has been a vary long time for me and i need lots of practice.
I would stay away from the autozone Bj's. I did lots of reading when I was going to replace mine. Every where says the autozone Bj's fail quickly. As good as the price is on the autozone Bj's, the head ache is not worth it. I went with moog and have been vary please so far.
Did your wife have her fill of the mosquito from last year Brian? Its a shame she would not make this trip.

on the subject of the bj's - i guess i don't need them afterall. i hardly ever drive my truck these days and i guess after i put on the 33s i'd been hearing a slight pop-like noise from the driver's side when coming to a stop where the vehicle weight shifts at the end. today i decided that i'd just take it around the corner to Firestone and have them re-align my truck since i had to crank my t-bars to fit my tires - and they could tell me what's loose up-front. turns out i just need to repack my driver's side wheel bearings. so, yay for me since i don't have to drop $200 on BJs and tierods. I might just get some Toyota or Moog BJs in the future because 19yr old/200k+ BJs could use some lovin' and i might need trail spares someday (hope not though).
as for the wife, she doesn't mind camping, it's the jolting around in my truck and all the dust from 4wheeling that she doesn't care as much for. her loss. i might have a buddy sit shotgun or fly solo

Truck's going in to BC Fab on Wednesday to burn on some sliders and u-bolt flip

and to add to the confusion of not talking about Squaw - i've got a buddy flying into town this week and he says we need to go wheeling somewhere. SO...since we all like to wheel not on the web...where should I take him? i was thinking somewhere off Eagle Lakes, like maybe hard way to Signal Peak or Eagle Lakes trail (since i never finished it) - or maybe if someone knows how to get to the legal part of Greenhorn, that might be fun to fart around this means i may need to get my butt in gear and fix my junk asap. damn, i hate deadlines.
*perhaps we should all start using the regional forum or something - our random chit chat has filled up this thread with BS.

I am ready to go I want to be there now but I need to get more gear for my stay. Now for Snowhite needs to have 4.88 up front which comes in I hope this week add in Jaino's true trac, add in my new to me pick up shoulder belts for the rear seats. take out driver side rear seat so the back will lay flat, finish painting/ herculine front and rear bumpers, find the brake fluid loss O ya
my brake light just started this too and did not know that there in a sensor in the master cylinder to tell you fluid is low. Started that issue on Sat night and found out why today. Thought it was my alt. again what a relief on that part.

Out of curiosity, anyone know if the camp site has biffys? (One of my Wife's stipulations for going)

I think he means bathrooms
Yeah...sure there are
Where were going the nearest port-o-potty is at the Bear Res Dam/meetup spot/Friday campers and then maybe at Silver Lake which is visible at the end of the trail, but up the hwy. This trail doesn't get as much traffic as Rubicon so I don't think you have to pack "it" out. Bring a shovel or wagbags. The campsite on the trail is just an area after the rock garden where it looks nice and there's evidence of campfires.

That would be awesome if you wouldn't mind. I wouldn't consider myself an expert (anymore), but I can burn in some descent looking welds. I get to weld once every year or two, so I keep my skills up just enough to be dangerous. I assembled the sliders and mounted them myself as far as I got, I just ran out of time with the welder I had at the time.
That was my thinking. The only catch is my wife has a bum back, so the trip has to outweigh the potential pain.

Yes, BIFFY = Bathroom in Forest For You... I figured this was the case. I'm used to camping without even basic amenities, but sadly, that is not my wife's idea of "camping", haha.
Ohh well, I guess that settles it, the little ladies staying at home. I guess that means more room in the tent for me, woohoo!

Dust?!?!
I don't remember any dust the last time. I also remember a cool breeze through the whole trip. Oh wait... That was my AC and my windows were up.
Maybe I should have it recharged and bring a jacket though it was pretty cool the last time. I think I am good to go. Just have to get everything together and pack.
Don't do any maintenance before you go 4wheeling. Your liable to have a lady run a red and total your truck.
