You could get together with a friend or significant other and try geocaching. That's another good way to get familiar with your new toy.

OK guys the "boss" is back and she is fine with us going

Now if I can match the last somewhat incompatible requirement I'm in. That is find accomadation good enough for her which allows pets. Otherwise I will have an upset girlfriend and dog after the weekend.

And NO I can't put my girlfriend in the kennel and bring the dog

Got a place to stay in San Luis Obispo, so it's a bit of a drive.

Guess I'll have to air up and down a bit then.

WHen are you guy sgoing to meet down at the beach? Friday afternoon, Thursday evening?

I'm planning on coming down Friday morning to be there about lunch time.

SLO isn't too far away, only like 15 minutes. Where are you staying? The Madonna Inn is pretty cool with theme rooms, like medievel dungeons, etc. Not sure if they take pets though.

It sounds like most people are going to start showing up Friday evening. You and the GF can walk around downtown SLO and do some shopping before you come to the dunes. Or whatever.

The only place I could get that takes pets is the Holiday Inn. I figured it will be like 15 minutes away. Will a little Land Rover Freelander work on the dunes, so she can bring her car? I know they are fine on sand, but not sure if it will make any of the dunes we want to go on.

I was going through your website and i almost died laughing after i saw this. I've seen dogs at Pismo but the noisy atv's may freak them out.
I'm hoping you can bring yours, my gf and i would like to check it out and ask you a few questions.

The freelander should be ok on the dunes, but it is kinda low. Make sure it has tow points front and rear, and air down. Are you bringing the 4runner too?

He is defintely coming. He normally sits in the back most of the time, but I let him run around when we stop for longer breaks.

He sometimes takes an afternoon nap on the bed and almost nothing can wake him up. SO I tied him up and then woke him. He was not able to figure out what was going on for some time. It was really funny, wished I took a video of it.

I'm defintely bringing the Runner. The Freelanders comes stock with pretty good towing points, actually better than the RUnners. I dont know if she wants to bring the Freelander will see over the weekend, but it is more fun if she can drive as well. Those little Freelanders do pretty well considering all independent suspension, street tires, no low range. They handle sweet on the road, makes my 4Runner feel heavy and clumsy even with XREAS and when it was stock.

I am planning to swap her car for a 4Runner hopefully next year, but it will stay stock till we can get a 3rd roundabout driver.

Make sure those are tow/recovery points and not just the tie down points.

ARRG!

My damned band scheduled a gig for July 10th! I swear we need a manager or something! I've told them for a couple months I'm gone that weekend.

I'm going to have bow out of the 4RJ now.

I hope I can meet some of you that I haven't met yet on another run soon. Have a great time playing in the sand!

Oh yeah, one more thing. I already got my reservation for camping at Oceano Dunes SVRA. Are those transferable? In other words can I give it to someone who hasn't gotten a reservation yet?

I was thinking the same. My friend isn't driving up, so I have an extra reservation. I am unsure what to do with it.

sorry you cant make it, thats a bummer. I'm sure there will be other pismo trips this year; just not as big as this one. And i was looking forward to check out your new rear bumper.

I think you can cancel your reservations but still lose the $7.50 reservation fee.

California State Parks Cancellation Policies

*The $7.50 reservation fee is non-refundable.

*If you cancel a reservation, a cancellation fee of $7.00 will be assesed per
reservation.

Maybe we should get another thread going before it gets too involved in this one. Anyone wanna plan? I'm not sure if I'd be able to make it.

Begging the pardon of Bob, Steve, and whoever else may have ownership of the "Pismo 4RJ" title

Here is the Pismo 4RJ 2-1/2 thread:
