Pics from BRT this past weekend

I joined Northern California Club Xterra (NCCX) on the Barney-Riley Trail in Northern CA this past weekend. The trail was very scenic with views of the Carson River valley and aspen-lined hilllsides, which were in the process of displaying their fall colors. The trail was recently upgraded to a "6" out of "10," presumeably due to two hill climbs in particular. The trail is not overly difficult, but I almost used my rear locker on one hill climb (but made it up without it) and DID use it on a second climb to keep myself from getting in trouble. Two of the Xterras had only a limited slip in the rear and eventually made it with some careful spotting and rock stacking.

Only vehicles with lockers made this optional hill climb:

Most of the trail looked somewhat like this:

Overall, a very nice trail!

I think I would really enjoy those nice open trails, rather than the tight cramped trails in the woods we have over here in the midwest.
