Moab

I’m planning on coming out within the next couple of weeks to run several trails around Moab. I’ll run them alone if need be but I’m posting this thread in hopes that someone else or a group was contemplating a run in that area within the next couple of weeks or so and that I might just be able to tag along? If no one is planning such a trip does anyone know what the protocol is for tag alongs in that area?

I will be there around Memorial Day.

How odd would it be to meet a fellow Mid-Westerner in Moab rather than back home?

I think there was a crew out last week, and I think there is a crew out there this week too.

I've heard from the colorado4x4.org guys that you can just hang around the parking lot of City Market in the mornings if you want to pick-up a run with a group.

Just make sure you run Lower Helldorado. It's an excellent 4+ trail and slickrock alternative.

Looking at some pictures taken last year relative to Upper and Lower Helldorado, it seems to me anyway, that several rock ledges appear to be begging for a little sheet metal. I'll leave that run for you and Schaefer. Pritchett Canyon and Poison Spider Mesa are about my Tonka Toys limit and I would also like to run some "scenic" trails with slick rock. It would be nice to have someone in the cab shooting video going up and down the Lion’s back.

I'm looking forward to the trip and thanks for the City Market tip.

Not sure exactly when you will be there Joe, but if you see a red Runner with Wisconsin plates, that is where I am meeting my crew. Say hey, it would be good to put a face with a name.

I'm planning on pulling in around the 22nd or 23rd. Are you staying at a camp ground or do they permit tents at the trail heads? There's several campgrounds in the area with space for that week and the price is around $21 a night for a "tent lot". I'll have a maroon Tundra with ND plates.

Moab is about an 8 hour drive for me but I may be able to make a day and a half type trip to do Moab with some fellow Toyota people. I live to drive. About 2 week notice and a non holiday weekend works best for me.
