Does anybody have a video camera? Cuz with this many 4runners going, I think one of us should bring a video camera and maybe make a short movie. Shazad? JP? I got the digi pics covered, but I know you bought a digi camera for the 1st trip Shazad, maybe you can buy a video camera for this one
Ya know.....for your newly built rig.

Ive got a digi camcorder...BUT, I cant come saturday. I can make it Sunday though. I havent had internet in my house for 3 weeks now. I finally got a technician to come out, but he's coming Saturday. The next available time is in another week.

It took me 3 weeks to get a guy to come out. They are closed on Sundays and do not do service calls past 5 durring the week and I work 8-5. So saturday is it. If anyone wants to go Sunday let me know...
Ill continue to call the service dept and hopefully everything will get worked out before then...but right now, Im out.

There are plenty of tow points on your truck, but a hitch shackle makes things a lot easier. I however, just put my receiver in and hook up to that with a little inginuity...
So no one can go Sunday?

I wanna go!! Alex is pissed too... But internet access is a little more important. No internet = no job = no cash = no mods for Jeep.
Ive been eating hot dogs w/o buns for the past 3 weeks.

dude, JP, I"ll buy you some frozen white-castle haha!!
Seriously though, you HAVE to come, this is gonna be the most 4runners ever in the midwest getting together, and with the rock crawling event going on, you can't miss this one!! Sounds like there's a possibility that you can come......

Okay, here's the latest:
Troy and crew at Badlands are expecting a few THOUSAND people this weekend. They are just guessing, don't know for sure, but probably aren't far off (the on-site camping, normally half-full, is booked up... the local hotels are booked... lots of calls... the last event in paragon had TEN THOUSAND
. SO, they are opening the gates early.
Here's how it works (I think-- they don't know either, this is first time): they are opening earlier than 9 (how early depends on how long the line gets). You pay the normal $15/vehicle (per day, plus passengers) at the gates if you're going to 'wheel, and $10/vehicle (per day, unlimited passengers) if you're going to watch. If you are planning to both (like I am), I think you only pay the $15 rate, but I'm not sure. Hope we don't pay both
.
Our group is now just our two 4Runners, the Jeep GC backed out. We will be staying at Apple Inn Fri and Sat night, and we'll be at the Badlands both Sat and Sun (morning). So PoBoy, if you want someone to ride/spectate with Sunday morning, we'll be there.
Meeting at 8 am at McDonalds there Saturday sounds good. My black 4Runner with white fenders will be hard to miss. I'm thinking we can do the dunes/green trails for awhile in the morning, and then get lunch and watch the competition for awhile, then in the afternoon, either more green riding, or we can look around for whatever level of difficulty people are up for. I was told the whole back woods was under four feet of water, Troy was taking his fishing boat back there two weeks ago, so probably the tubes and the stream will be too deep for anyone without diff breathers to drive (might even be "snorkel" deep!). If it isn't too deep, I'd like to go there, down the stream-- when it's a foot deep or less, I think it is real scenic and fun to drive down, not too hard. I heard there was a new blue (easy) trail?
Sunday morning I was planning either more riding or more watching, depending on the mood of whoesever left.
Sound like a plan guys? Those are my thoughts, I'm open to suggestions-- we don't have to all stick together, although it'd be nice to gather for a Toyota pic at least. Maybe we can turn this into the 1st annual Midwest Toyota jamboree...
See ya soon,
Kenton

Yea sounds like a great idea. I was thinking we'd stick together too, cuz it'd be more fun that way. So I guess 8 o'clock at mcdees? Try to show up a little earlier than that so we can make sure to leave around 8:10 or 8:15 at the latest!

I got my rig ready, shes all cleaned out, and hooked up. ready for some mud. I hope there are not too many people there. Otherwise theres going to be a lot of waiting ... I hate traffic, even if its in the woods.
what cb channel are we using again? I had the guy work on mine today, but it still needs to be tuned. I get the weather channel, and some trucker channels.
alright, I'll see you guys at 8 .. sucks got to get up at 4:30.

ah man so tired ... just woke up from getting back yesterday. I went downstairs and checked out the runner ... it smells like ˟˟˟˟ and dirty laundry. For those that couldn't make it .. I waterlogged the truck, and almost rolled it in the pond. Water flooded into the passenger compartment above the seats, the engine bay, and the trunk. theres still water in the headlamps, and taillamps ... the dash warning lights (VSC, check engine light, oil, etc) have turned off, the GPS, has turned on but is not reading the disk. I think the rest of the electrical wires have dried out, and are working again. I guess I'll take her in a few days to get detailed. Oh need to get the TJM repaired, it took a hit too, nearly wacked it off. I'm just glad we were able to get her started back up, and I didn't have to have it towed back to chicago.
Kenton also hydrolocked his truck, but he was able to get it going on the trail.
youll have to wait for pics, rob was the only one with a camera, and he doesn't have regular internet access. It was some scary ˟˟˟˟. Thanks again ... mike, rob, kenton, aaron, and everyone else .. I would have been F__cked if it wsn't for you guys.

Sorry guys I wasn't able to make it, I couldn't get friday off (third shift and I wouldn't have made it out of work in enough time to drive up there) and I had to get started on the early this (sunday) morning.
Still in the primer stages but not for long hopefully.

Hey everyone, I had a great time, hope you all did too.
To summarize, we started out with a bang, taking a tougher entrance into Green, Rob(?) had a little trouble getting into 4WD, but after that we were jammin'. We took probably the toughest lines that Green had to offer, and everyone was up to the challenges-- the white 1st-gen 4Runner (Kirk) and the Isuzu (Carlos) took some rocker damage on the steep break-overs, but otherwise conquered all.
We stopped for lunch and ERoCC, I saw Ken Shupe take The Garden with ease, missed getting a t-shirt from the helicopter, then went right back to the trails, with two groups splitting up. We headed for the culverts, and I (black 1st-gen 4Runner) took a nose-dive off the end, hydro-locking the engine hard.
We managed to tow it upstream, catch up with the other group, and with some team-work got mine going again, and towed Shazad back to home-base (he hydro-locked as well). We got his started just in time for park closing, and we all rode off into the sunset, primed for next years, 2ND ANNUAL TOYOTA HYDROLOCKING TOURNAMENT!
Here's a pic:
Rob, if you email me the pics, I can post them. Send small ones (less than 100k each), and keep the total to less than 10 (1 Mb).
Later,
Kenton
