Greenwater July 21st 2007
I am dying to get out, and I had asked over on fjcruiserforums site if anyone wanted to get out and enjoy some scenic views of Mt. Rainer.
Looks like we have it narrowed down to the 21st of July.
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...late-july.html
There are going to be a ton of FJ Cruisers at this, it ought to look pretty cool with a caravan coming into the little town of Greenwater.
There is always a trooper on the side of the road there taking radar, I bet his jaw drops when he sees a long line of FJs coming into town
Nothing hardcore here, and no sections planned yet, but I think it would be neat to do the 72 to 70 loop, and park at the one scenic place with Rainier in the backdrop and get some pics.

Sounds like fun, and I'm almost finished cleaning up the FJ from the last mud run.
The only hitch is the possible arrival of my cuz sometime in July. He'll be staying here with his two dogs, a cat, a girlfriend and no itinerary or schedule other than to arrive 'probably in July'. If so, I'll be playing host/tour guide instead.

Sorry you can not make it Bob.
This should be a lot of fun, and looks like we have a slew of FJs attending.
This will be a good test for the new ARB fridge I picked up too.
Going to be feeding the group ice cream sandwiches.

Hey, welcome over here Brain.
Just watch out for the state patrol or sherrif along either side of the road when you get by the shops in town.
Often they will have one of those electronic signs up there showing you your speed.
Speed limit in town is 35, and they will nail you.

It is off road on gravel/dirt/tree debris forest service roads.
Jim and I went up to Greenwater yesterday to shoot the AR15s and his Colt 45 (found a great shooting pit), and we saw braincell and i2oadi2unnei2 on a recognizance run for the upcoming July 21st run up at Greenwater.
We figure we could do the 72 to start and pose at the bend a few miles up for a group shot with Mt. Rainier in the background, then move on and down to where it dumps to the gravel pit.
Then head out to 70, and either head up 70 and explore some, or head back down to HW 410 then head East up to FS road 74 I think it is, Jim knows here, and head into Lonesome Lake.
The problem is there are just so many areas up there to explore one could not cover it all even in a week.
Also the town of Greenwater has a mom & pop Kettle Corn stand on the North side of the road near Wapiti Woolies store.
Good stuff, we both bought a bag yesterday, and they have it in caramel too.
If we do decide to head up the highway after 72, we may not even want to air down.
Airing down on the FS roads does make for a smoother ride, but not really all that necessary if you are not running trails.
There are some trails further up 70 before you get to the snout of the Naches we may want to look at.

Just an FYI...
The Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Team will also be up at Greenwater during our run.

Click on section 2 from the Flash list at the top, then schedule.
Then click the red dot in the WA. section.
They are having some kind of race up there, so more than likely we may see them up there.

I do not care if the ground is wet, actually that is better since the dust will not be flying.
