Evan's Creek October 11

Hey guys and girls. We're putting together a run to Evan's Creek. It'll be a milder run, one newbie and one guy out for the first time in his 42 Willy's. This is a good Yotatech run now that we've got a little rain to muck stuff up.

Who's along for the ride?

Here's a 1.2 mb map of the trail system Denk.

It's on the way upto the NW entrance to Mt Rainier National park.
Instead of veering left to go into the campground for Ipsut Creek at Rainier, you stay straight and to the right and climb the hill that takes you up to Lake Mowich.
But it's way before Mowich.

I know how to get there, but forget the name of the street in Buckley that you take to go there.

OK, the map says to head on HW 165 when you are in Buckley.

Gibby, I actually thought about going when you mentioned there would be an easy trail to do, but I have a three day weekend (off today until Sunday) and will be spending time with my youngest son and doing some work on his car this weekend.

Take pics of the easy route, I'd like to go sometime, but I heard 311 is not the one to do unless you want some damage.

Which easier tail were you going to do for the stock guy's?

Would be coming from the Sea-Tac area. And i hope it would be WAY before Mowich, cuz that is way the h*ll out there. Just starting out myself. I just replaced a CV boot last weekend, which kept me from the trails, but now I want to test its durability and my workmanship. What a PITA that was.

311 is not that difficult of a trail, it's rated moderate on the lower section, most difficult on the upper section. We have taken many a stockish rig through there without damage. I mean stock! Daryl's only upgrade was a TRD shift nob! I think he did catch a ding around the right rear tire, but very superficial.

The nice thing about these trails is that in the very difficult spots there are almost always bypasses. They key to getting through damage free is going slow, careful spotting if necessary, and not being afraid to take a tug when needed. In the last year or so, the only damage I've seen is from guys that won't take a tug over a place where they don't have the traction to get through and then they slide sideways and nick a quarter panel. There's a damage potention on every trail but with your wheeing experience, you would have no problem wiith the trails we'll be running this weekend. I've got some new drivers coming out and I don't want to scare anyone away.

I let them watch me do the silly stuff. There's a log pile that's fun, a rock ledger and a nasty short hill climb with a huge hole in it for those who want to try, for those who don't go around :o)

Bring your son with you!

This is the closest ORV park to Seatac.

We'll be having breakfast at the 410 cafe in Buckley from about 8-900. That'll give us time to gas up, etc.

Do you know where that is?

Looks like about 5 or 6 rigs. A couple more would make a perfect trip. Most of the rigs are stockers or newbies.

Erik, Matt and I may load up with passengers to ride 520 or the upper section of 102 at the end of the day. Some mild wheeling with a little wilder finish :o)

C'mon Corey, come out and play!

I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow on this. Didn't get a lot of stuff, but what we did was pretty good.
