You guys probably aren't going to have time for a shower, let alone a solar one. You're probably going to come back after dark so your shower will be cold. Being stinky is part of camping. Plus, with bob there you won't be able to smell yourself.

Some of you guys might be dry camping so be sure to take plenty of water for washing dishes, hands, etc. It'll also come in handy for the radiator and drinking water, just in case.

Air down to 20-25psi to take the edge off the washboard roads. You'll be traveling for tens of miles, on washboard roads. There's a magic speed where you ride on top of the bumps rather than hit every one of them.

Has anybody never camped before?

I may grab me a giant water jug for this trip. I believe it's been established that Jerry Cans are non-essential?

Not in about, well, I guess it was about 10 yrs. ago, and my buddy who loaned me the equip up and moved to Colorado. I'm not too worried, though, but I don't want to be the only one living off of pop-tarts and Stagg's chili-in-a-box!

GT, since I've had two kids, I've discovered the magic of baby wipes, one of the best discoveries since sliced bread. Remind me to give you a pack this weekend!

Should be hot enough for a swim in the pool though, so you guys will be fine. Or else you can just pop into our room for a quick shower.

Scott, 9:30 sounds fine. I will make a few adjustments to the planned trips. Firstoy will gave some more feedback, but some sections will be a no go for stockers. I think we will be OK for Sat and SUn then. We will have to drive fast anyhow for the washboard

ahh its a good thing i'm on the short side so i'll be snoozing in the back

for those leaving friday pm, what time are you guys planning on heading out/getting there? i'd like to caravan with someone since i dont know that area too well and i'll most likely be heading out by myself.

well, I reckon the roads will be crowded, and I believe it may even be spring break, so I was going to try to get out of Redondo Beach by 2:00PM at the latest. Never been to DV before, so I want to be wherever it is that I am going to, wherever that may be, before dark. Are you backcountry campers camping on friday nite, or hoteling it in Ridgecrest?

Just to let you know...You won't be in DV before dark if you leave Redondo Beach at 2. It's quite a drive form my mom's house (where I'll be) in Hesperia, CA.

dam youre right, it is spring break week for some places that weekend. i guess i'll try to leave around noon because it seems like itll take me 4+ hours to get to dv. actually, i should try to leave earlier so i can find a place to camp.

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew this would happen.............

I tried to get organised for this trip. I have everything - tents, sleeping bags, chairs, tables, washing up gear, cooking equipment, food etc and you guys are going to be packing up everyday and eat from tins

Freaking hell, I can't packup a family of four everyday for four days.

I thought we were going to be staying on the edge of a camping site (albeit not in one) and leaving our gear behind for the day. I guess your suggesting the stuff being left behind won't be safe. DAMN!

I also thought there was the suggestion of a nearby pool to...ahhhh...errrr...freshen up! Don't get me wrong, I'm a happy camper in filth for weeks on end....BUT.... not with a family too! I'd need a trailer load of baby wipes.

Ok - I gotta re-think this whole trip

And this concerns me...

"Firstoy will gave some more feedback, but some sections will be a no go for stockers."

Just how much will be no go? 80% ? If there are significant sections that are not suitable for stockers could you please indicate which parts of the itinerary and I will have to consider this issue too.

I would also like to know. I'm actually going to be in DV the weekend before as well, so I think I'll be coming back during the week and giving as best a report I can. Also, would these be clearance issues or would my locker be able to pull me through? I guess we still need to figure everything out.

Also, maybe we could get eveyones road plans..such as the way your coming in. For instance, I'm coming up on 395 from the 15 sometime Friday, as I think Bob and Lance may be doing as well.
