There should be plenty of moderate trail runs for you and the wife! Glad you found the thread.

Angry Co4rj

I would definately like to make Holy-Cross on friday if you think my rig will survive. Also want to do Wheeler Lake if I dont break on first day. Is Holy-Cross possible on 35s w/only rear locker 3-4 lift and low gearing.I have sliders bumpers winch and hooks!Anything i would have to add? Obama hasent helped me yet but I do have A/E. if needed.

Yeehaw.

As for a hotel, we're going to follow Mr. Goat's recommendation and kit up at this one - it's in Buena Vista, not far from the campsite (so I've been told). If we plan this right, we can carpool our drunken asses back from the campsite late if need be. He'll be there, we'll be there, who's coming along?

I'm going to sort out the mild-notso nasty trails for a Friday and a Saturday go at it, though I need to be with y'all for at least one aggro adventure because I think I've got off-road.com to let me cover the run.

I just had to cancel my trip today, so I won't be there. But that does open up another room at the Alpine, have a good one and catch you guys next time.

As of now, we're still planning on running mild trails on Fri and Sat. Still not sure which ones. We're also planning on stopping in St. Elmo at the chipmunk crossing for a while and probably try to fish at a lake or two with our kids. So - if that's your style - you're welcome to join us. Man, time's flying... gotta make some trails decisions soon.

If that is you Mike, then you will be fine. You are more equipped than most of the rigs that will be running it.

Like Scotty said, you should be fine. You might have a little trouble at French Creek but the 35's will help. We'll see ya there!

plans

What are the planned run(s) for Friday and when? I'm coming from Durango and can leave early for a run Friday. I'm up for some agro runs. Did Poughkeepsie Gulch last weekend.

Well, I may be out for the Holy Cross run. Although I will still be there, just not in the current rig. I received a deposit for my 4runner last night, and if everything goes as planned it will be in Reno, NV by then.

I may have my new project by then. Jeff should see the potential in it.

NICE! Not about you missing HC but about selling your 4Runner

Did you find a 3rd Gen like you wanted? There will be plenty of others running other trails so don't worry about not making HC.

Yup. And sold it for what I wanted. I actually think it was under priced. I got a ton of activity on it even where it was priced.

I am heading up there Friday afternoon and will be there till Sunday afternoon/night. I am not a trail rig but have 285's and rear locker. I am thinking Chinaman Gulch would be cool and then a short run on sunday. Is there anyone that wants to lead? I am all new to this area and have heard a lot of great things about that run. I am open to whatever trail someone who has been on them thinks my truck can do. Also it would be cool to meet up with some people heading up from Colorado Springs. I know there is a group leaving Thursday but I can not make it until Friday.

Hiyo Bone-Stock Rodeo!

I was chewing on routes tonight. For the Friday notso-super truck run (Bone-Stock Rodeo), I was thinking about going north from Sargents to St. Elmo on Tomichi and Hancock passes. Ehh? Ehh? There's a ton of other trails up there to fiddle around on, it's a famous old area for historic mining activity and old Coloradoism, and the trails (according to my research) are not so out there that you can't pull them off in a minimally modified 4Runner or friend-of-4Runner. I'm going in an unlocked 3rd-gen 4Runner with 265/75/16 Silent Armors, the Tundra lift and brass balls.

I've got lots of experience (and things, and stuff!), but I've not done these particular trails before, so if someone else wants to lead on, now would be a good time to sweep me off my feet before I get too into the project.

For those people running Holy Cross on Friday, let's shoot for meeting at the HC trailhead at 9am to get an early start. I will leave the Fourmile campground area @ 7am to get to the access road to drop the truck/trailer off at 8:30. That way we will have 30 minutes to get up to the Holy Cross trailhead.
