The exit always scares me. It's really hard since somebody pulled down that boulder in the right line at the top. You might be out $10 though, DIRTCO's friend Cory made the exit last year on just a strap (and some pushing of the rear bumper ). That was on 37" MTR's. He's now rocking 40's

Weather is looking somewhat not ideal with 30-40% chance of precip Fri/Sat/Sun. I don't mind running HC in the rain but I'd hate to get halfway up BV Carnage and get rained on. We'll play it by ear for sure!

Oh yea, everyone PLEASE BRING SOME FIREWOOD!!

Aaron,
I camped up in BV this last weekend and it only rained at night.
During the day it would burn off and be sunny and warm.
I'm hoping that it holds off completely, but we'll see.
I'll be bringing firewood.

Good to know! Thanks for the heads up.

Oh yea, make sure you bring some $$$ for CO4RJ stickers that STICK has designed and had made. He's already dropped the $200 of his own money to have them made so the least we can do is get him his $200 back.

Also, raffle tickets. Everyone attending in a Toyota will receive 1 ticket. Additional tickets are $1/each or 6 tickets for $5. Raffle items include a set of Goodyear MTR's (in your choice of size) donated by Goodyear!!! If anybody else wanted to donate an item to be raffled, please bring it!!! All the proceeds will be donated to Stay the Trail to help keep our trails open here in CO!!

I'll be up on Saturday around 11am with a stock 93 V6 5spd BFG A/T. I wanted to know where the tough parts are on the trail to Grizzly lake, thinking about hiking in if I can get this stock rig somewhat close to the lake.

A few of us are going up there at 8:30am or so and I have never been up there. If you want I can PM you my cell and when you are getting close I can come down the trail and take you up to the lake that way you will not be doing the trail alone and then you can meet up with all of us that are up there.

Cool! I bet a 12 pack of cold beer would go over ever better than $10!

The exit can be SCARY, refer to the picture sequence below! I think the boulder might have moved since the last trip but I'm not sure. If the boulder is gone, it's not that hard to drive the exit (at least a couple years ago).

Ah, I miss the old green 4Runner

I think 90% of the time I've run Holy Cross it has rained, it's on par with the trail. Carnage is better after a little rain, it makes it not as dusty and the soil seems to get better traction.

Iron chest will be fun. I met you for a minute last year but i doubt you remember me. I was the kid who helped cubuff fix his rear axle enough to get it on the trailer.

What kinda beer does cory like? maybe ill bring that instead lol

I'm looking forward to it! I think I remember you from last year, but I suck at names and things were a little crazy right after Carnage.

Cory's a High Life kind of guy, but it doesn't really matter

Unfortunately I think the toughest part is close to the beginning of the trail.

Looks like I will be there on Sat. morning as long as my repair goes ok in Pueblo. I also talked Andy into going, he will probably meet you guys at the Holy Cross trailhead and leave his FJ there.

DIRTCO or anyone that's run Iron Chest- Can it be run Open/open on 33's? I'd like to run it, and I've run trails like Eagle Rock with little to no problems. Sounds like fun to go watch the exit event too!

I did.. We never would have got the studs out in Alamosa. It took me 4 hours to get them removed. I had to almost completely drill them out heat them with a torch and then use the extractor to the point of almost braking. I did go through a few extractors and numerous bolts welded and tapped into the studs. I also dented the face in a few spots so I used a large file and valve grinding compound to flaten the face.

It is basically a giant rock garden of basketball sized rocks. Check it out on trail damage and see if you want to give it a shot
