Still working on the problem of the RSVP gang. Sorry we haven't figured it out yet!

Aaron,

Thanks for the invitation! I'm definitely a maybe for now. I'll have to call it closer to the actual dates. I'd love to come for at least Sat/Sun.

Hey, what are people's thoughts on other (non-toyota) rigs coming? My brother has a 78 Bronco, and he might want to come. I understand though if we want to keep it a toyota event. Might look funny with a random Bronco in the pics. It's cool either way, just wanted to find out whether or not I should invite him. Thanks again!

Other rigs.

Tell you what, if it were up to me I'd say rigs from other planets should be just fine. More people means more action, and more help, and more beer, and more bullets, and more stories, and more firewood, and more fun, and just because the dude can't swap parts doesn't mean he won't be worth good word-of-mouth for the future or a good pal on the trail. I do TDS every year out here, and even though it's a Jeep club thing, the event is freakin' huge because everyone else shows up too (including some tard in a built Rav4).

I suggest that if the dude is cool, bring him. It'll still be CO4RJ, not CO4RandothertrucksJ.

That's only my two cents. I'm not making the rules here, but a little shared off-road good will goes a long way, and it helps feed the future of CO4RJ.

STICK

PS> Besides, gen-two Broncos are cool. I've always wanted one.

Yes its a Toyota event. But it doesn't matter if your brother comes in a bronco. last year Aarons brother came with his jeep.

He was the only non-Toyota rig at the event I don't think people will mind but I don't want this event to get out of hand. It's an informal weekend and I don't want the forest service showing up at our campsite wanting an explaination on why there's 200 people camping in one site

Yeah, definitely understand the size constraints! I'm not sure if he'll make it (or if I can), but I'll invite him. Thanks again guys!

I've never been, but would be interested. Not sure the difficulty of some of these trails and if my rig would make it (locked F&R, 33's)? I have a buddy w/ a Jeep that may be interested as well since he lives in the area. I'll be watching for the specifics.

Last year there was a group of hundreds of Jeeps in the area the same weekend as us, (hopefully they won't be there at the sametime this year) I only ran into them (same trail @ same time) once and that was Sun on Chinamans. A group of 17 of were wheeling together, but they were very organized and once we caught up to them they were pretty nice and sped it up enough that we didn't have to wait on them after that.

Trails are listed in first post. Traildamage does a good job rating the trails and giving a report of each trail. Locked F&R on 33, I'd suggest Chinamans, Holy Cross, Iron Chest, Grizzy Lake, and Wheeler Lake.

All-For-Fun put on by the Mile-Hi Jeep club. Last year it was in Leadville.

I should be there again this year. No clue on what raffle prize I will bring. Doubt it will be another bumper though. Maybe a set of sliders or something of choice. That way it will fit multiple rigs.

If you're bringing a set of sliders, make sure they fit a '98 4R so I can win them.

Another place for good trail data is a Wiki called Dirtopia. They've got a huge catalog of info on local stuff, especially in the area CO4RJ is planning. Some of their contributors are the guys from TrailDamage, too.

Bone-Stock Rodeo!

So all of y'all know, I'm planning on having a few death & dismemberment-free trails up my sleeve for the newbs and guys with less radical rigs. I'm coming in a near-stock 4Runner, so I don't have a choice.

STICKing with caution for now

PS> Are you in-charge types planning a list of rules/suggestions? Everyone has a CB, what kind of straps, stuff like that?

Nice! We'll save you a spot in camp!

Thanks for offering another raffle prize! A set of sliders would be a good raffle item

Speaking of raffle items, Goodyear has donated a set of MT/R's!!! Winner will get to pick a set of MT/R's of your choice.

The raffle will be held the same way as last year. Every Toyota owner that shows up gets 1 ticket. Tickets can be purchased for $1/each and all the proceeds will be donated to Stay the Trail.

We don't have a specific list of rules/suggestions/equipment. We do want everyone on the trip to obey Tread Lightly and Stay the Trail principals.

I would recommend everyone to bring a safe rig to drive, CB radio if you have one, and solid tow points F&R. Recovery equipment is also nice to bring if you've got it.

I would like to request that no one harass the local wildlife. Especially the little marmots. I don't know who it was last year, but someone (I think in our group) was using them for target practice on one trail run. I don't want to single anyone out now, but just don't do it in the future please.

Aaron, why not have everyone pay a registration fee of $10/rig? That way we raise more money for the cause, and with the entry fee they also get a free ticket.

Just thinking that the more we raise the better exposure we get as a group/run.

I might do a couple gift certificates too, but we'll see how things pan out this year.

I think $10/rig would be a fair price to pay. I don't want anyone to feel like they can't show up because the registration fee is too high. If we get 50 rigs to show and sell 200-300 extra tickets, that's $700-$800 that we could donate to keeping our trails open.

Anybody dissagree with charging a registration fee??

I'd be more than willing to pay

Hmm, yes, definitely. Should go without saying. Perpetuate the event, encourage improvements, and upgrade the perception of value amongst those who would participate. I've spent $10 on far less worthwhile stuff.
