Bone-Stock Rodeo:
For everyone (anyone?) who's not capable of running Holy Cross on Friday (including me), I'm planning to hit Hancock Pass and Tomichi Pass on Friday instead. Meet-up is in St. Elmo, 9:AM (unless someone suggests earlier or later...). I was planning a north-bound run out of Sargents, but St. Elmo is closer for an easier :AM start. It's about 20 miles of trail with a 30-mile drive home, with lots of side-routes if y'all are feeling creative.
I don't want to bail on the big group, but their plan is for an aggressive trail that is outside of the capabilities of most of the 33-inch crowd.
We can discuss the who's and the what's on Thursday night while we put Humpty Dumpty... I mean, Aaron's truck back together, and I do not want to Bogart any of the crowd from the Holy Cross run, but if you're worried it's outside of your ken, come with us to St. Elmo on Friday morning and we'll do some excellent high-altitude trails that are tricky enough to challenge the less advanced rigs without being lethal.
Email me and I'll give you my digits.

My plan at this point is to camp from Thursday night-Monday morning. I want to hit some local streams and lakes to fish with my boys a couple days. 7 & 12 yrs old. But, we will be in camp each night to hang out. Basically, I plan to explore the area doing easy to moderate stuff to get a feeling for the new 4runner.
I'll be in this:

I'll be posting up by this weekend our trails schedule for Fri and Sat. runs - anyone is welcome to join. I've pretty much narrowed it down to Grizzley lake, pomeroy lakes, baldwin lake. Notice they all end in lake... I plan on spending a little time fishing on each trail - if that's your style. Also, to repeat, we're travel with a 6 month old and a 3 year old - so our plans this year are a bit geared towards that. Meaning we might spend an hour in St. Elmo at the chipmunk crossing (great for kids!!) Anyway, Just wanted to post so that people know there are options if you're not on 35's fully locked.

Aaron,
Are we camping at the same place as last year?
(N38 51.479 W106 03.380)
Be on channel 7 on the CB?
I will be coming in Friday evening and just want to make sure that I am passing on the correct info to others.

I will be there early afternoon, so if I am first, then I will just grab the same spot. However, I won't have anything to be able to rope it all off. I also really liked that section just south that had the huge overlook of Pikes Peak. I am not sure its big enough for a group of our size though. Still I may end up grabbing that area if its open for myself, but I will try to let anyone else know that the big area is for the run as well.

I'll bring some flag rope. Got a few hundred feet in the shed. Old PR leftovers, make things look official. Someone else needs to bring some poles or something stick-in-the-groundy, though. Hey, speaking of PR junk, I'll bring some banners and cool garage stuff we can put into the raffle for the event too.
Ahem, personal disclaimer: THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL SANCTIONING BY ANY CORPORATE ENTITY WHICH I AM ASSOCIATED WITH OR EMPLOYED BY AT THIS TIME. Hah.
I'm driving up from Colorado Springs on Thursday around lunchtime. If we can find the spot on Thursday afternoon, we'll go help fend off the revenuers, but I might be plastered by the time everyone else arrives.
STICK with beer
PS> Crap, just checked and can't find the flag-rope. I'll keep looking. Don't worry, schwag-hogs - found the banners.

Isn't the camping in BLM land? Even though it is nice to flag off the area, you might look into the rules of that area. I know this isn't an "organized" event. However the more you might it look "organized", you more liable you look with the BLM. I am not sure the BLM makes you get a permit for this type of stuff.
I remember the area being roped last year and nothing happened, so it could just be pessimism.

I'm in for Tomichi. I might not get there for Hancock pass though. I also want to run Baldwin and do some fishing at Mirror lake on the back side of Tin Cup. Might be quicker to go over Cherokee pass and up through Taylor lake.

Well, I did the SOA on the trailer today and rewired in a new control box for the 4runner trailer wiring. The old controller box was fried and worthless. Should have tires by Tuesday, but will not be wheeling since it will need a body lift before I can install the sliders and clear the tires. I may just end up waiting to do anything else at this point until after the trip and stick with the 265s for now.

On A side note, What would you charge to build a bumper off my TG winch plate?

I'd knock $75 off the price.
